Yes well done Neil.

Your procedure for ESET 6 worked perfectly. Thanks.

Bring back the star rating system. Not having that in this release is ridiculous. the ability to seperate the themes into different categories is invaluable. unforgivable that it was not included in WB8

yup .. even tried a total reboot

I've sent an email to stardock support about it to included the report from stardock support tools too so that you guys can see if you can work out whats going on

my specs

intel 2600

mem 16gb

nvidia 580gtx

2 issues

1. I like using the diamond theme, but Im getting wasted space(gaps) between the border of the windows. if I snap the windows to the side. I get gaps along the edges. I can click the do not use per pixel frame and it fixes it. but then the top of the window splits it to sections. for example firefox where the glass is after the tab is a different color then above it.

2. roboform is black in firefox, buttons only show. maybe I can tell windowblinds not to skin it. I havent tested it yet. but I do I tell it not to skin plugin?

Reproduced and passed along.

Does this happen with every skin?

I'm using Windows 8 Pro x64

I'm using Classic Shell start menu and the text in menu goes ugly glow, and weird.

I've tried put Classic Shell start menu in exclusion list in WindowBlinds but it doesn't exclude it. That needs to be fixed, please.

I bought Object Destop only to get the new WindowBlinds 7.90.

Just a quick thanks to Neil and the team for WB8 :)

Now I only hope Windowblinds, Deskscapes, Modernmix and Start8 will work on Windows 8.1 from the go.  :star:

Works good on both window7 and indows8 x64.  No issues yet.

Wonderful work.  Even though it's just beta, it doesn't appear far from a release version.

Here are some things I've noticed in this beta version that's not quite right.

The lack of small icons next to entries on Explorer context menus.

eg. Win8 x64 and WindowBlinds 8 7.9beta getting context on .ico file
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34013737/context-win8-x64%28Euphoria%29.jpg

vs: Win7 x32 and WindowBlinds 7 v7.41.1 getting context on .ico file
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34013737/context-win7-x86%28Euphoria%29.jpg

vs: Win8 x64 and WindowBlinds 8 7.9beta and default "Aero" theme getting context on .ico file
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34013737/context-win8-x64%20%28aero%29.jpg

The skin I use is Euphoria.  I've observed the same with some of the supplied skins such as "Corporate"

I do see some icons depending on what is being right-clicked.  For instance, getting the context menu for a folder in Dropbox, shows the Dropbox icon next to the copy Dropbox link entry, and the "Show Folder on desktop" icon next to that entry.

There is also a small display issue that may not be a WindowBlinds 8 issue but maybe in the skin I use, Euphoria.

The white space appears for any maximised window.  It seems to be the difference between the size of the taskbar and the size of the start button.  In this case, the start button is not set by Start8 but by the global WindowBlinds theme.  Can't seem to override it to let Start8 handle it alone, so figure the issue is solely within either WindowBlinds or the skin.  On my Win7x86 system, these areas are transparent, showing the desktop background portion or any application window (not maximised) that may be in that spot.

Not sure why the clock is overlapping onto the taskbar, but it's no big deal.

Otherwise, am now looking forward to seeing the polished release version ... when it's right.

Error Iv'e noticed is when windows are maximized part of the frame is showing on my secondary monitor.

Notice the window frame on the right side crosses over past the taskbar inot my secondary monitor area.

Will you be able to skin "Background on folders area" Transparent in Sks 8 ? |-)

We've not reproduced it yet but we have your support information.  Thanks.

I believe these are skin design issues.  Thanks.

Since you purchased Object Desktop you could use Start8 until we see what's going on with ClassicShell.

How much compatibility does StarDock hope to achieve with previous themes (assuming they were constructed properly to begin with)?

I bought a couple of the more "professional" themes such as "Alluminate" and "VOX". They don't seem to play well in Start8 (fonts fail to render)

And while I was working on these images noticed some other inconsistencies in the photoshop menu and top toolbar:

Themes worked well with xp and windows7... with any luck these are issues that can be resolved with the latest release and windows8.

Thanks!

Soasi, just trying to help. I loaded the VOX and Alluminate skins with WB 8 Start8 and have no problems. Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

Photoshop does things in a non-standard way.  We are looking to see what can be done.

Thanks for that... I noticed I just switched to another native theme and it is doing the same thing, now... I must have something maladjusted?

Not quite sure what though

Try a reboot.

I'm running Windows 8 pro 64bit with ESET 6. Neil's fix for ESET 6 got me past the 'not installed' problem but now whenever I apply a skin everything disappears and the screens (two monitors) go black except for the config window. I can't even start task manager. The only way out is ctrl-alt-del, switch to another userid and uninstall WindowBlinds (or restore windows from a backup).  Anyone else have the same problem?

Very odd. Problem persists:

Did a drive image restore

Reinstalled WindowBlinds

Applied permissions in ESET

Rebooted

Applied Alluminate theme (no change on start menu)

Rebooted (no change on start menu)

Could it be a permissions problem somewhere?

Also, though doubt it matters, but I do have C:\User and C:\ProgramData directed to another drive.

(I did do a drive image restore on each of the drives)
