[Suggestions] Give us a Sov option or a faction trait that can't settle or produce pioneers

I have never played any Civ game (just MOM and MOO 1 and 2), but I recall reading on the WOM site that the FFH mod had a faction that were nomadic in nature.  I was thinking that a faction that had that trait or (weakness?) might be interesting to play.  I think such a trait might also be a useful balancing mechanism for a Beastlord or Adventurer Sov, as they would be the kind of folks less likely to found an empire (but perhaps one falls in their lap).

Another twist would be a faction where the ONLY city is the one built by your sov, and you cannot train new pioneers, but you could Silver Tongue them maybe...

I am going to start a new game on challenging as a Beastlord with Life magic and see if I can try it out on a large map.

You can make your own faction and define a new race and prevent that race from having the ability to train pioneer units. Also, if you plan on doing this might I suggest you use my tent mod... every building is made out of tents instead. Fits in with that nomadic theme.

Can you do this with the vanilla tools? or is there a Mod for this? or do we get dirty in the XML?

Thanks, Parrotmath!  I will definitely do that when/if I decide to make a formal mod!

You down wit' OPC?  (Other People's Code)  B)  lol!

The xml is pretty easy to work with, ampoliros5.  And the folks like HF, parrotmath, dsraider and mqpiffle (and Seanw3, we miss you!) are really friendly and will help you out.

Our story thus far:

I am at turn 60 and have two stacks thanks to Panca Archers, the Sparus Brothers and the beasties (a warg, a mire skath, 2 black widows. and a ravenous harridan). I have two other factions sticking tribute down in a hollow oak by the swamp... "cuz it'd be a shame if somethin' happened to this nice place ya got here"  }:)

I was hoping to score a quest with a pioneer unit reward, but no luck yet and i haven't found any cities already built on my side of the map.  I made my first earned hero a commander and after a few levels he is generating +1 lore a turn and then I got Jesselde, pretty smart (and pretty, too :smitten:  ) with +3 lore.  She is helping me sound out the runes in the two ancient library goodie huts i found.  (think of the scene from Ghost with the potters wheel... uh... nvm...)

I am having fun, so yay for me! \o/
