[Suggestion] Create "Settler" Trait

I would very much like to replace those slow, 30-man Pioneer units with mounted, 60-man units (once I have the requisite techs, of course), but there is currently no functionality for doing this. Could the ability to Settle or make an Outpost be unlocked as a trait so we can build our own with better loadouts?

The Engineering mod does exactly that. I have never used it though, so I can't vouch for how good it is or whether it works with LH.

Also: What do you mean, 30 man units? Pioneers are a group of three. And why would you want to make a unit which shouldn't do any fighting anyway bigger? You'd just be making it more expensive for no reason.

Pioneers cost 30 pop, he likely meant he'd pay 60 pop for a mounted version.

These could be redesigned using the xml files. I'm not sure if creating special pioneer units would be great.

I meant I'd like to be able to spawn a bigger starting town by increasing the squad size of the settlers = P

I see. That might be a nice idea actually - use some excess population to quickstart a settlement. Would that I had any idea about modding whatsoever.

Yeah you could do that in Gal Civ II I think or was it MoO2?

That would be really cool, being able to spread some pop from one of your massive urban sprawls to one of your destitute cities on the fringe.

On the flip side I think the AI would use this far more efficiently than the player could, and could possibly make the AI overpowered because it could build super cities even on the crappiest soil. Unless you could only add the pop once, i.e. when you build the city. So using the OPs original idea would work. Building 60 pop settlers instead of 30.

60 pop settlers on horseback. Don't forget the extra 2 move/turn = P
