Steam FE Map pack - LH activation

Basically having read that i fall into the "free legendary heroes" crowd (august 2010 according to my order history) I went ahead and bought the map pack for FE via steam and added it to my gift inventory with the intention of activating it as/when i recieve my LH steam key.

Thing is what was not made apparent on the main splash for LH but what is now apparent from reading the forums is that LH will be a STANDALONE title ... so basically i just bought a map pack that i cannot use because i do not own FE on steam (i have the stardock copy) but also it sounds like i wont be able to activate it and use it in LH when i get my LH Steam copy???

Some insight on this matter would really be apprecaited. I read this from Derek

What will FE non-legends owners get from this? Is that game dead and no longer supported except from brads private homebuilds? What about the map pack I just bought like 3 days ago for FE..? Is that compatable in legends...? or refund?

FE will still be supported. We have continued to release patches FE throughout and we are working on the next patch.

People who have purchased the map pack will also receive it for Legendary Heroes.

The problem is i have purchased it but cannot activate it because i do not have a steam FE i have a stardock one. I bought this during todays sale thinking it was a smart move and i could apply it to FE:LH once it was added to steam.

Some clarification would really be appreciated as i am sure others would like to know since the game is on sale.

Yeah I see what you did. You TRIED to SQUAHEEZE a deal out of STEAM for your FE game (you bought from Stardock) now but the deal on STEAM was for the STEAM version of FE sort of a here's a neat little cheap gift to give you for buying FE on STEAM. Now you're SCREWED and you want some kind of restitution for your FAILURE to get a cheap copy of the map pack. ;)

you didn't "see" anything.  You read what you wanted to read and made a smug comment whilst adding yourself to the sorely large list of people who like to make comments on posts without actually reading them properly.

What is really sad is i actually had a NOTE: This is NOT me complaining that a STEAM map pack cannot be activated on SD FE - but i actually thought since i requested Brad or Derek to read this thread they would take the time to READ what i said.

Then you showed up, so ...

Steam won't let you buy the map pack if you do not own the Steam version of FE (see exact error message below).  At least that is my experience and I just tried it again to verify (I own a SD/Impulse version).  Am I understanding your "complaint" correctly?  You bought the Steam FE map pack without owning the FE game through Steam?

"Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy a game that requires ownership of another game you do not currently own. Please correct the error and try again."

Hmm, not sure how to edit...  Re-read that you bought it as a gift, presumably to get around the Steam protection.  So disregard my post above, if you hadn't already. :)  Hope you can use the gift someday....
