So now that Steam has been officially released for Linux...

It has to be asked, right?

Any chance Fallen Enchantress and/or Legendary Heroes will be making its way to the open source operating system with the friendly penguin?

I would be very interested, too.

I bought the game and am able to run it under wine, but without tactical battle and with cloth map only. That cuts a lot of the fun. Would gladly buy the expansion, if there were a linux version for that.

Surely you and I aren't the only ones. :-|

The only reason I reboot my system into Win7 these days is to play Fallen Enchantress.  I would re-purchase the game if a Linux version were released.   (There is a Linux version of the other game I play: Dominions 3)

How would that work?  How does Steam being available on Linux make it easier to make Linux games?  Did they port DirectX 9? ;)

Hey, this will be much easier to argue about if you don't use specifics! :D

It wouldn't be easier, but now that there is a commercial platform for linux gaming, it could be worth the effort :)

Another way would be to try to get the game to run better under wine, where this annoying anti aliasing bug isn't solved yet.

It makes it easier to get your games to Linux gamers, which is something.

And shame on your for using a proprietary graphics API.  You need to take a lesson from Paradox Interactive and port your engine to OpenGL to make cross platform releases possible.  Crusader Kings II runs like a dream in Linux.

I want it too!

It's so bothersome having to reboot to windows every time... :(

That's a little crude, no?
I mean I don't dislike Linux in particular, but if the developers are comfortable with the current working of directX9, that's the way it is.
I guess its probably both cheaper and quicker to use the current systems.

My "shame on you" was meant humorously, but subtle nuances like that are so hard to convey in writing, or I should say that it is beyond my skills as a writer to convey them.

That said, there is certainly a golden opportunity here for Stardock.

Not really a "golden" opportunity...copper maybe?  I really doubt they would make a lot of money or open up to a much larger audience from making a linux version
