Bug?: Shouldn't army lose bonus when grantor of bonus dies?

I entered combat against a champion who granted a +4 dodge bonus to his army. When I killed the champion, I expected the other units in his army to lose the +4 dodge bonus, but they didn't. It makes sense that when someone that grants an army bonus goes down, the members of the army lose that bonus.

Interesting point. Probably should be that way...

Definitely!

I am thinking the Great Wolf bonus.  If you kill him the other wolves should lose their bonus.

I could go either way on that. At least that is a skill the Great Wolf had to burn up a turn to use. So I am somewhat ok with that staying, as the howl has already got them riled up. It is the automatic bonuses that are already effective at the beginning of battle that should go away for sure though.

Perhaps the Great Wolf's howl should only affect other beasts/animals, might make it a bit less OP when used with armies either via Beastlord, or the studded collar.

The loss of the Alpha in a wolf pack usually sends a pack into chaos.

Yes and not

I mean, one thing is an effect that depends on a suply to work (like maintenance spells). Other thing is an effect that has a duration. Talking about bonus, is more difficult, as they might work as a spell or in a different way.

For example, the enraged bonus of wolf. Once enraged, it is ok to be enraged even after wolf is dead, as it says it will affect until the end of the combat. It is specified how it is working, and it makes sense.

For the dodge skill, idk. If it is considered as a passive skill that depends on the hero, then yes. If it a passive skill that triggers on the start and takes all combat long, then not.

are you referring to some skills from the Path of the Defender.  They add dodge, resistance etc.  If the Champion does should those bonuses stop.

I tend to agree, but remember that the champion is not really dead - he will reincarnate after the battle, maybe on that same square if his army wins.

The one that gets me is the bonuses given to armies containing more than 5 (or whatever) units.  I check the last remaining unit and it tells me that it gets a +physical attack bonus from being in an army of 5 or more units.  WTF?  Look around buddy, all i see are dead bodies.

I suspect that from a code point of view that the bonuses are applied at the start of tactical combat and not removed until it ends... otherwise they would have to be periodically rechecked to see if they should be removed.  But it does break the immersion.
