Does anyone else think "Light" plate looks pretty heavy?

as per title. I'd like to raise the question that, visually, light plate doesn't seem to fit the name. It's a form of armor that's stronger than chainmail, but weaker than full plate armor. so why does it look almost exactly like plate armor (i think it's actually bulkier) , but just less stylish ?

I'd love to see it look a bit more hybrid. imo, light plate armor should be mostly leather/chain with some metal plates only in critical areas. The person on the left. Notice there's shoulderplates, but the arms are less protected. there's a chestplate but no backplate. The greaves are only on the outside of the leg, etc. I think it would look a lot more believable and natural to have light plate be something like this, possibly filling in the non-plated areas with chainmail.
