How do you gain a vassal state?

Hey,

as the title suggests, what is needed to turn an AI to a vassal? Until now I have always crushed my opponents if they get naughty. But lately, I've been thinking I would like a Karavox lieutenant or a Procipinee handmaiden.

It is not possible, this is not CIV IV :) You can only make them resign.

Well actually, I meant that I want another faction leaders as heroes. So how?  |-)

the only way at present is to declare war on them, beat them down and then demand surrender from them, then you get the sov with a broken spirit and needing to heal for about five turns before they can move.

When you're at war, you have the option to demand surrender from the AI under the treaty section.  They don't always accept, and I don't know the formula used to determine how likely it is they'll surrender.

Ok, that did explain a lot.

Extort them before the final blow, that'll do.  :D

Thanks!

I'm hoping that the game will be modified to allow for sovereigns to join your cause under several other conditions aswell:

  • The current surrendering, acquiring the Broken Spirit negative trait.
  • The destroying, acquiring the XXXXX negative trait. This would happen when you 'kill' an opponent faction. 'At the last moment' instead of wisking away to safety, he joins your cause, but has a different negative trait.
  • The hiring, acquiring the YYYYY negative trait. This would happen if the AI gives up. He stations himself as if he were a hero for hire to which you can gain his services.
