Lets hold a contest: "The champion my sovereign loves to see"

I would like to suggest a contest.  All level 1 champions are eligible, male and female, human or fallen.

The name of the contest says it all, really: "The champion my sovereign loves to see"  Who is the level one champion that you're always happy to see when you start a new game? It may be because he's amazingly useful out of the door, because she has the potential of becoming a powerhouse, because he carries great gear, or even because she looks like your wife and the two names are two letters apart.

How will the contest work?

Anyone can nominate a champion, and briefly explain why no one else comes close. You can also submit a picture, which I will crop down to ... Hmm 120x200. Please, do not go back and edit your old posts, make a new post if you want to change your choice or your praise.

Please, try not to laud your champion because he complements your sovereign. Or Hell, go ahead, but understand that your argument may appear weak to other people.

I will be placing the best entries for each champion in the second post, sorted alphabetically.  At some point, I'll start another thread, where people can just post votes.

Oh, and all rules are subject to change. Not really, but I am bound to add new rules.

And finally, Stardock, please don't nerf the winners? Boost the others if you need to, but as far as I am concerned, variety is the spice of life, and I would rather get the pleasure of seeing a favorite of mine than know that all of them are more or less alike.

Champions we love to see

Updated as people submit contestants...

 Badra (submitted by seanw3)

Badra is bar none the best.

   Kallus Hairto (submitted by Kongdej)

Obsession: Gives +3 production per (material per) essence in enchanted city, and a pointless 1 extra to city income).

But this particular hero I really love to see when trying to build myself an empire, since he have a spell that boosts production, although its not enchanted hammers, atleast he stacks with earth magic, he also have water magic so he can cast inspiration incase you did not bring that yourself.

Finally he have 3 traits as a level 1 hero, these are the best heroes, and he also have the best bloodline ability (IMO).

Ok yes one of his traits is administrator, but that just means he doesn't go to waste when stationed in a city

Lizbeth the Light (submitted by Supreme Shogun)

She comes with the uber skill of weak,  along with merchant and water.

Nochd Nightbringer (submitted by Tuidjy)

There are so many ways in which he can support your Empire!

He has "Merchant I" which means that he not only pays his own salary, but also adds to your war chest.

He has "Earth Apprentice" which means that he can cast "Enchanted hammers" on your capital.

He carries a dagger, which is a very respectable early weapon, because of its counterattack and high initiative.

He has "Lethal I", which insures that his dagger actually does respectable damage.

And finally he is a Wraith, which means that in the early turns he can heal himself by dealing the final blow to an enemy, and thus minimize the time spent healing.

But wait!  If you train him as an assassin, or defender, you will still be able to upgrade his lethality, which adds pure damage to paths that greatly benefit from it.  And, of course, the same applies to the income from the merchant skill.

actually I think Nochd was one of the heroes I like to see, but I like to see most heroes, for me its reverse, there are 3-4 heroes I HATE to see, the rest are awesome.

Well, I guess Nochd is so awesome, that no one dares nominate a competitor for him.

Or... maybe this was not such a great idea.  Ah well... My dream of judging pageants are crushed.

I like to see any of them except for some of the administrative types with the "weak" trait.

I vote for Janusk, well, cuz he's Janusk. He was our best buddy in EWOM for months and months.

When I get around to modding heroes, he is the only existing hero I plan to keep, because at least he has a little bit of character :)

Also I would still love to see some normalization within the amount of traits the starting heroes get, some start with 3 (level 1 hero) and some level 3 heroes start with 3 traits, I actually hate hiring level 3 heroes... And heroes with weaknesses since they usually don't have anything to make up for the weakness

If nothing else, this is one of the things I plan to mod for myself after retail.

This one only works as long as his spell is bugged though >)

Too late.  The nerfing process is out of control right now.  Say goodbye to Nochd.

P.S.  I like the guy with Obsession and I like guys that have spell disciplines that I don't have.

Poor Janusk, always the whipping boy! XD

OK since Janusk isn't eligible I vote for Lith Seratta because of the dagger, chest piece, and that poison skull thing which deals poison dot. She rox early game.

I used Nageach the Stonecutter the other day.  He's a beast with his warhammer.
