Defeating an AI Army

I'm playing a game where all 7 of the AI players are against me. I'm having great fun but I've notice that I'm falling behind because when I defeat an AI army, no matter how large, all I receive is experience. Because all I can do is defend my cities I'm not gaining gold or items. You should get gold and loot when defeating an AI army.

Maybe metal and crystals also.  A big part of war is using resources of the enemies.  I think metal and crystals and gold should be given as rewards from army battles.

+1. Not a large pile mind you, but definitely some would be nice.

Right, I wouldn't want to start farming them for iron/crystals, but a handful would be nice.

This latest build is keeping me on my toes. At war with all factions and solely defensive mode atm. Agree some metal and such would make sense.
