Did they fix missiles circling ships forever in Rebellion?

Just curious. Gets pretty annoying.

I've never noticed them circling forever.  It may take them a few revolutions, but they will eventually make a ridiculously sharp turn directly into the enemy hull.

So they didn't fix it? Damn. "Forever" was a little hyperbolic, but it is annoying that they circle so long.

That "bug"has rarely been complained about; it's so minor that it goes in the "Korsov only fires nukes out of 1 pylon" category. Would you really want the devs to spend time and money on fixing that versus things that actually affect gameplay? Or the even bigger graphical bugs? I realize some people really are bothered by such things, but I think this is one you should just try and get over. ;P

I'm one of the mods over at Sins of the Prophets, and our mod is missile heavy. We see this issue constantly, and I'm not exaggerating at all.

If you make the missiles have a higher turn radius you should reduce the chance of that happening or ensure that it can turn fast enough to make it in a single loop. Alternatively you could tell the missiles to aim for the center of the target instead of any random mesh point, I suspect the loops happen when a meshpoint on the very edge of the mesh is selected for the missile to hit.

  missileStartTurningDistance 250.000000

missileSlowTurnRate 0.708997

missileMaxSlowTurnTime 6.000000

Fiddle with these numbers...if IIRC the last one is how long the missile does stupid circle things before making the "sharp turn" that sends it straight to the ship...that may not look very pretty though so you may want to increase the slow turn rate or the start turning distance....

Been a very long time since I ever played with those numbers but I do believe increasing the start turning distance will give the best aesthetic experience...IIRC setting it higher can remove the need for sharp turns (or at least most of the time)....
