Please Scrap Trade ports for the Advent and Use Culture Temples

DEVELOPERS:

  • Scrap Trade ports and concentrate on Culture temples influencing Tax Income, Allegiance and resource extraction.
  • Revised culture temples stack of-course with there effect on allegiance and tax.
  • Add bonuses to culture links to adjacent colonies and use culture to steal tax income by a % of enemy colonies up to 5 jumps away.

E.g

1 Phase jump away: steal 50% , 2 jumps steal 40% etc. This way multiple planets get income. Make sure this is pre-determined by research; E.g steal up to 20% , 30%, then 50%. You could choose any percentage.

This takes advantage of the loss of planets income under the influence of culture (steal income debuff) where an enemy planet could earn even less income when there allegiance is very low. :digichet:

I know you might have discussed this sometime in the past and shrugged it aside but i think you should understand something very important with regards to the advent:

  • They don't need trade ports simply because they live there lives on the Unity faith.
  • Money and possessions are provided for to everyone who contributes for the unity-hive-mind but with individualism. This is what the race has evolved to since its release and I don't see how they have time to buy groceries and trade jewelry.
  • I foresee a future where money becomes a thing of the past and food and possessions are rewarded by someones psitech strength in the unity.

Theme: Advent economies grow by debuffing other economies and strengthening the will of the unity.

I can never tell if you post serious things or not.

Advent can already get 40% more income per planet than the other two races through culture.

Thats like looking at the positive things of a race and not looking at the negative "40% more income per planet than the other two races through culture". But the advent still have the worst economy, get trade ports the latest, have unconventional positioning for their resource improvement(The TEC get it early, Vasari have it in one). We also have resource focus(Which is useless, but even more useless than refineries which are already useless but it deserved a mention).

I personally like his idea. Where culture temples would offer allegiance instead of having trade as it didn't make much sense on the advent really. They are space commies and trade does not make much sense in my opinion.

get tradeports the latest? last time i checked, advent tradeports were on tier 3, vasari were on tier 4.

and now my Vasari Loyalist with their titan are sort of like the Voth of Startrek Voyager:

Episode Distant Orgins: season 3 episode 23

Shit happens when its weird and new..

Besides who needs money when you can join, serve the unity and get everything.

Lets make it 200% (give or take) without trade ports :borg:

In a very basic sense, I have to agree with RiddleKing here...it would be nice if the 3 civilian structures (trade ports, refineries, and culture centers) were more different for each faction...

Advent can get 10% more tax and extractor income than the other two planets...your other 30% is presumably from Induced Reverence, which has such a high capital cost that it is pretty much useless...even in very long games, it is not economical....

He meant advent get illums late compared to everyone else's long range unit-them being expensive and trade ports also at tier 3 is considerably very late in the game for an econ boost for a stronger military.

edit:

Remember vasari have neutrals with scouts and can research crystal and Metal boosts with 1 tech.

oops. Thanks for catching that Riddle^^ I tend to get things mixed up quickly because I type very fast and do not review what I wrote before I post.

But I always thought it would be cool to give the different races better economies based on special buildings. Trade Ports for TEC, ToC for Advent, and Refineries for the Vasari. Refineries would need a buff or the Vasari would need a "resource to credit" improvement buff in tech^^

Oh the life of a brainstormer!

@Mayall

fOR ThE UniTY

I have been thinking about that for a long time and its the way i would have it but i didn't want to be the offender to propose new game-play mechanics that dumb down the game like how supreme commander 2 changed from forged alliance because now its all out war in supcom 2 with less macroeconomics.

Right now the game has Allegiance, Tax Income, Trade Ports, Refineries, Extractors

We can keep all this so long as we have races concentrating on their unique structures to enhance 1 or 2 of those variables and the rest of those variables can be put on star-bases and titans.
