Long range frigates yet? It needed to be done ages ago. I want to start playing again, but the fact that the battles always hinged on who brought more LRF's to the table just soured me on the game. What is the point of having Capital Ships in the game if they don't actually do anything? There should be a large enough divide in power between the frigates and cruisers, and cruisers and capital ships that LRF's can't overwhelm a properly constructed fleet on their own.

 

Now, I admit I have not played since shortly after Diplomacy's release, and have not exactly been reading the patch notes thoroughly, so I apologize if I'm ranting about something that has already been fixed

Try the Rebellion Beta. Corvettes now rule space. Or the Titan.

Titans have actually made capitalships much more important, and they can actually last far longer than frigates can against a titan. And corvettes have massacred the traditional LRF spam. I don't know if the eventual tactics that come out of this new system will be any more interesting, but its certainly different.

Diplomacy itself has only seen a few slight changes, but at the end of it LRFs were only really used early on (which is most multiplayer games), but bombers were seen to be the most broken thing.
