Elemental is layered with Spell X, Greater Spell X, EVEN GREATEREST Spell X.

Use the glyph system from Guild Wars instead. Glyphs are very simple in that game; you pick a spell you want modified, and before you cast it you cast a glyph to modify it. Want the spell to cast faster or recharge faster or do aoe damage instead of just the single target damage? Use a glyph.

 

Glyphs cost you mana and can also have additional negative effects, like making the spell take longer to recharge. BUT and this is the big thing, they remove the need for +1 spells that do the same thing as a prior version but with a different effect. 


It's a much better system because it cuts down on needless spell duplication and lets players decide just how much they want an effect. Please please please put it in!

you know, it's pretty sad that I really don't know much about the magic system in WoM.  Ive played the hell out of it, but since so few people can even use magic, and the dire need to tech straight to big weapons, I have never really bothered even looking at the spells that's I have learned...

I'ma just throw it out there, but no spell in E:wom is just "greater spell X", except alchemy and possibly raise mountain.

the spells in WoM isn't that useful or fun, because a regular attack from a bow or sword is equal to what my caster can do. researching magic just held me back from winning. I wish the magic research is separated from the civi and war research. than magic can run in parallel with civi and war research. otherwise if I do research magic, I need to take control shard from my opponent but that I need strong troops which I don't have and I'm stabbing my foot on a pole

w00t. The only way I can play on extreme, even with the new mod that I've installed that limits magic is with magic... :p

Magic is awesome early on for scouting and killing of monsters with your heroes and then later it gives some good boosts.

Usually I will beef up the armor of my main channeler, hit with him 3-4-5 times to take down the counterattacks of the enemy and then as a last hit deal somoe magic. There's some good troop boosts out there to. Also magic seems to work well against people  who are well armoured obviously since you cant hurt them with your ordinary units to much.

I use Magic to kill stacks as it is more effective than wasting my own stack.

I wonder how much it would cost to get an Asian hooker to crap on my chest?  At least this spam has provided us all with valuable prostitute resources.  I think we all know where Jafo's next paycheck is going!

Agree. I love the magic, I want to use it, but overall it cost too much with little bang in the short term ( by the time I have the ability to utilize it effectively the game is already over) I've been playing since release and have found that weps are the way to go especially since that is what the AI seems to focus on.

You need to increase the mana levels attained from shards to really make the game about magic. I have mine quadrupled and every enemy hero seems to be a mage. Of course my whole game setup includes a premade map and the insurance that everyone gets ample resources and three of four shards. 

I think most people, the ten of us that still play, are afraid to tweak the settings.  :frogboy:

ROFL...only 10? :) 4x shards? Yes, your mana levels would be increased, but with that kind a arcane girth, doesn't make the game too easy? Though I do appreciate your POV---just make a few tweaks--bend the game to your will.
