Preview of new Stardock download store / updater

So with Impulse over to Gamestop and the digital distribution competition no longer something we’re participating in we’ve developed a new digital updating client – Stardock Central (what’s old is new again).

But unlike the old “big” client, the new one is very…very simple.

image

(sorry for the lame screenshot, I’m caught up on my games on this new machine and haven’t installed any apps yet).

Your Stardock purchases will show up here once you login. Just pick what you want to install (or update) and press a button and it’ll use our massively fast CDN to install it (we have a long-term agreement with our CDN except now the only thing using its bandwidth is our stuff so the download speeds are kind of ridiculous – it’s like being the only guy on a 1 gigabyte line).

image

The new settings includes an option to have it simply update your software automatically.  So you can either choose to stick with older versions or always have it up to date.

..

OK, let’s say you don’t like to have to install a client at all.  That’s fine too.  You can update your software and games via the web as well:

image

Pick whether it’s software or games and it’ll look at your account, when you last updated, and off you go.  The installer will figure out what you need to install (i.e. if you have multiple machines with different versions) and off you go.

It’s designed to be as streamlined as possible.

Is there a support thread for this?  Or will here suffice?

Not working here.

Sent an email to Support with a jpg showing the error message.

The download worked and SDC worked, atleast those portions of it that show.  It showed, for me, updates for OD Plus 2 v2.01 and SkinStudion 7 Pro v 7.30 and new software of DesktopX v 3.50 ( which is just a little confusing).  I was able to launch all the installed programs.  Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Looking very nice Brad.    Eager to see the next update.  I have yet to uninstall my software using Impulse and reinstall through Stardock.com Store.  Waiting on the release of SDC.  :sun:

EDIT: Doh!!!  I found the setting page.  :-"

Yes, Avast is blocking the download as a threat. I sent them a false positive report and turned off the protection to be able to download! X(

Whats this then? Beta?

I would say it's a Beta.

Fair enough then.
Working fine for me; Win7x64, Bitdefender 2012. Installed fine, working with no issues.

That'll be Avast being a little second-rate....;)

There's nothing wrong with the link other than  a false-positive....;p

its probably already been asked but, I just installed this program..which is great btw.

I see my retail Trinity purchase when i click on 'View installed software' but i do not see my recent Rebellion pre-order listed, which I do see in Steam (beta).  Is this right?

Installed great for me on XP.

LOVE the fact that it saves the downloaded files by default.

LOVE that it lets you pick a directory for them.

My kind of utility.  B)
