Who plays vanilla SIns only and why?

I'll admit for the first two years of my Sins life it was vanilla and vanilla only. I just couldn't rap my head around the whole mod scene, the techs of installation and whether it would look and play like shit, to be frank. Even though I've built the machine I play SIns on just to move a file from one hard drive to another sometimes gives me grief...I don't know getting old. Two years ago on a staycation I installed in quick succession SOGE and Soa2. And Requeim ..and those have been my mainstays, haven't played a full game of vanilla SIns since. When Rebellion comes out I will be the first to download, but I have a feeling that won't be for a while.

My favorite is entrenchment.  You cannot beat the defense and economy provided by starbases.

I haven't warmed up to Diplomacy yet.

Sins is by far the game that I have spent the most time playing.  I may abandon it for a month or two here and there, but it never gets old.

I look forward to the next iteration.

I wouldn't be all surprised if thousands or people are playing Vanilla.  I know that there's a jewel-case version that sells for $10.  Heck, many people probably don't know about Impulse and are still on v1.05 or maybe never even downloaded any of the patches.

My friends and I do simply because we got the vanilla version for $10 and we love it, I've been thinking about getting the addon's soon but I may just wait for rebellion.

You can get Trinity (that means all three) for $10 if you look around for it.  Once you've installed Trinity, you can then pre-order Rebellion and get $10 off.  You and your friends should just go ahead and plan on getting Rebellion via pre-order and get the two micro expansions for free.  ;]

I've thought about suggesting that to them and I've thought about getting Entrenchment (like it better then dlp) but for the most part we usually wait to get stuff till 2-3 years after its been released so I doubt we'll be getting rebellion when it comes out at least not right away, also the only places (excluding impulse) I can find trinity are best buy and target, both of which have it for $30 and I'm not going to pay an extra $10 to get a game I already own and neither are my friends (we tend be a little cheap when it comes to money)
