Returning after a year - a couple of questions

I pre-ordered the game in 2009 (I think), but when the game released, a combination of the issues that the game had and not having access to a gaming PC, I decided to not play it then. It has been almost a year and I am on a lookout for a strategy game and so I have decided to give this game a try again. I have two fairly simple questions and I will aprreciate them being answered :)

1. How much has the game improved in terms of stability etc? I am pretty sure I will find the game fun so that is not what I am asking.

2. I read somewhere that those who had purchased the game earlier got some extras? Can someone tell me or give me a link where I can find out what those extras are?

1. The game i pretty stable now. Shouldnt give you any problems. There is a 1.3 version soon to arrive (in beta at least) that will bring some new stuff to the table.

2. If you bought the game in 2009, you should get the new game Fallen Enchantress for free (I believe).

Enjoy.

Well, you had to have activated the game on Impulse  (the beta would count I believe) by the deadline, or have a proof of purchase before the cutoff date (which I think was Oct 31)  Electronic proof is fine.

Elemental still isn't great, but it's decent as of 1.2, and stable.

There is a beta patch for 1.3 that is coming soon, possibly today.

Thank you very much for the information - my download is at 50% at the moment :)

I have got the electronic proof of purchase in the form of an email from Stardock and I also activated the game during the beta. Giving me 2 free expansions should be a good enough compensation for the fact that I had to wait a long time in order to play the game properly.

I am very curious of your opinion of the game now.  I hope you write an in depth review of how you see the game.

Hey Stardockers! (and sages)

Love the game and the forums here. I played on an old (4 1/2 years, Vista) system and never had any problems until I upgraded: Windows 7

Quad core, 8 Gigs DDR3, haven't upgraded graphics card yet (undecided, don't want to spend too much as I don't do FPS). I have a Nvidia 9800 GT.

The game now crashes on me :(

Any advice?

I am gonna put my old system back together again soon anyway so I will still be able to play. Even thought of buying a second copy.

Thanx and keep up the amazing work! This game and it's variants are gonna rule one day!

@Leeovold, please make a new thread for your questions. This thread is completely unrelated to it.

Thanks for the welcome, and yes, if I play the game enough, I will post how I find it. I don't play multiplayer in games unless it is an MMORPG, so I won't be any help there. I am a huge fan of strategy games, especially TBS games. I played Age of Wonders, GalCiv II, HOMM IV and Civ III & IV for several months each and I am really hoping that Elemental will be able to keep me occupied for at least a month.

There is still Sins of a Solar Empire left as I haven't found enough time to play it. Hmm...lots of gaming ahead if work doesn't keep me busy again

Well my apologies kind sir. Didn't mean to douse your parade with foul liquids. I meant to say that I love the game, but have a problem running it. Only on a particular machine. Perhaps you will. Happens all the time. I think it's a great game and look forward to the patches with hope.

Not all here today got horrible news (happens to all of us).

Again, very sorry

Leeovold, I appreciate your sentiment. I was just pointing out that it is not a good idea for a thread to branch out in two completely separate directions. Have fun :)

Make sure you play at least 100 turns and note your thoughts along the way.  Sometimes us old timers are too jaded by the past and may have over looked something.  Will look forward to your review

Don't worry about Multi-player in this game, it is not good at all unfortunatly. Not any where near as fun as Age of Wonders:SM multiplayer.
