Where is the patch....

Hi everyone,

I'm sure it's fairly obvious / straight forward, but I'm literally brain fried to try and look after trying to get starforge maps to work for the past 4+ hours. First two hours dedicated to trying all the different crap with putting the stuff into different folders, then the next two hours spent trying to activate the game - after I decided that the only possible reason why it wasn't working was that I still had the 1.05 retail version (just bought the game recently). Game came in the "space unlimited compilation" which included a bunch of other titles - but also included two other serial keys - and they ironically did not state which key belonged to which game.

After trying all three repeatedly in all variations of 0's , O's, removing brackets, using capital letters, two re-installs (after I corrupted the files trying to get the galaxyforge map to work), and finally getting it registered with the SAME serial number I have tried about 10 times before - with the only difference being that I had "updated the serial" into the game itself on the start screen this time (apparently I had a different one there before, but I kind of assumed it was the right one since the game was working fine), I am literally spent trying to figure out where to get the bloody patch. The game updater itself just brings me to a "bonus pack" page, with a broken link. I've seen the "Impulse" thing during googling for the solution to problem #1, but can't seem to find it again. I'm assuming there isn't a normal "patch" fine we can download - unless google is tripping as much as me from repeated searches.

I must say, epic / awesome game, but the user friendliness (or the lack thereof) in terms of finding updates or doing something simple as playing the map one has made on forge has killed my sex drive for at least a week thus far. Would be nice if I could just get the darn thing patched and have the drama over with.

Cheers.

Download Impulse, register your serial key, download the patch.

Love you.

EDIT: Ah great - now I need to enable IE in system. Why must something as simple as patching be made so infuriatingly complicated?

Pirates, and I didn't need IE for Impulse so I am not sure where that issue comes from. Oh and when you are done with Impulse (by the way Impulse allows you to buy the expansions Entrenchment and Diplomacy) you can delete it cleanly without hassle.

I remember back in the 1990's when pirated games WHERE the ones that gave you problems. You could be sure that if you bought original, you would have no problems. Now, you seem to have to jump through way more hoops to try and get something to work, 9/10 times if you buy original, with inability to burn images to hard-drive, needing internet connection to play single player, constant registrations, etc. etc. etc. Ironically, I had to actually modify two other original games with "pirated" cracks to be able to play (C&C4 was one example - since I bought it to pass the time when I was traveling. Game was huge disappointment anyway, but that's kinda besides the point). I dunno, I just found it funny how I had to resolve to illegal software to make the original game work in the year 2010. Gaming sure has come a long way ::P

Anyway, on topic though - yeah seems like IE wasn't needed. The setup just complained at me about not having it on and whatnot. So yeah, it's all good. 70% to patch done (impulse is downloading at 50kb/sec for me for some reason /sadface)
