Fallen Enchantress

Buying and Selling

Can you please change the way you buy and sell items to the more traditional way where your character's profile shows up and you drag and drop items into a slot? The current system is way too tedious. Fist you have to select your character to see what they have, next you select visit shop, then you buy your items, then you exit shop, then you open your character and put the new items on, then you close your character and visit shop again to sell the items you took off. You should be able to do all of this while you're in the shop. And heaven forbid that you forgot what you character needed while you are in the shop.

Seconded :-)

Clone of DA2 or Diablo 2 style store interface would make this an enjoyable gearing experience rather than an annoyance.

Thirded.  Describing the current shop interface as atrocious is putting it *very* mildly.

Best regards,
Steven.

Agree, it needs to change.  Would like to be able to see what I already have.  Really sucks in that you can't even open up the equipment screen if they are equipped with only default stuff, and I never remember what they are using.

Not only agree but I'm in the same boat as Xia... I can never remember.

Good lord, get out of the boat, Chip!  GET OUT OF THE BOAT!

That is definitely something that needs to be addressed.

So far Derek has done a good job of spotting everything that was wrong with EWOM... I'd be surprised if he didn't already have a plan to fix the whole shopping/equipping set of issues in EFE.

- UI equip screen as a paper doll

- Tool tips showing the + and - of each particular weapon/armor/item compared to the currently equipped item

- Easily buy/sell/equip from one UI screen

- Shops offer more unique items based on alliance, faction, technology, city location, resources within kingdom boundaries, trade treaties, etc.

- Shops pricing influenced by hero traits, faction traits, technology, etc.

- Traveling merchants

- Cities can build shop upgrades

Yeah, this would be nice. It's not a huge thing, but its current implementation is much less efficient than it could be.

It already shows that when you select an item in the store.

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, shop contents currently inherit directly from technology researched. This means difference according to faction and etc. will come along with faction differences in the tech tree. I don't think that you should be limited from technology that you've researched in any city, and I don't think having the capacity to upgrade shops would be able to bring anything meaningful to the table.

- Traveling merchants
It would be cool to see caravans have this functionality (though they, at least, could be somewhat limited in what they have). Random events such as "a merchant from the wilds has appeared, with a strange weapon he hopes to sell you" would be great though. In that case it should have a bit of its own interface, showing you the item, but still giving you the option to buy it, turn him away, redirect him to the private sector, (hopefully allowing it to appear in normal shops after some number of turns) or kill him and take it from his corpse. I don't see traveling merchants as an actual discrete unit on the overmap as something that would add much, though.

I've seen some internal mockups floating around that overhaul the shop screen, and I certainly remember 'Current Equipment' being readilly available. I'll see if Derek will let us 'leak' something next week :)

While you're at it, please please please update the character item / equipment screens to something approaching Diablo 3 X(

Yes, please overhaul the shop screen. I have on occasion forgotten to equip an item I just purchased and I have bought double items or sold something that I forgot to replace. It would be a great improvement and more enjoyable if the shop screen was overhauled.

A traveling merchant with an unique or advanced item would be cool but with my luck I would be broke at the time the merchant showed up with the Black double strike Hammer of Death. An enemy faction would probably buy it and kill my hero. It would be cruel and unfair to kill a poor wandering merchant and take the item but if I kill an enemy hero who carries the item then it should be mine.

1. they're clearly planning to fix the shop screen

2. any fix to the shop screen is almost certain to be based off of a de-lamed inventory screen.

So, yay!
