So what have you been gaming lately?

I haven’t seen this question here for a while so I thought I would ask. I, myself, have been stuck on a couple of games I bought over 4 months ago after buying 2 flops in between. I’m hooked on Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 now that there are hardly any hackers in there, since Black Ops came out actually. Black Ops is one of the flops I got, dam thing has never worked properly on my rig thanks to my lack of quad-cores, even with a decent video card. I guess for now I have the incentive of reaching the highest level in Modern Warfare 2 to keep me entertained till I can get a better rig to play Black Ops. Wish I could give away my copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2, the second flop I bought. I just never got the taste for this game, single or multiplayer. I prefer McDonalds to Burger King, right?

The other game I’m kinda hooked on is Starcraft II. Pretty good game if you like strategy games. I am not that good and after watch many casts of this game from the best of the best all over the world, it’s hard to stay interested but I still keep coming back for more punishment.

So what’s new and hot on your PC these days?

Hehe, we have similar taste in gaming then. I played about 230 hours of MW2 last year and now i play Black Ops, just got the new map pack for it. Luckily hardware is not issue for me, as i have workstation on my disposal....i tried it install it on my older compy with core 2 duo 3GHz and it was really choppy...only god knows how they managed to screw it this way, while it looks the same as MW2.

As you could not play it, i suppose its pointless asking what do you prefer? :-) I am bit on the fence here, bar the HW side of things i believe Blops is more balanced and overall better game, but MW2 was my "first" multiplayer shooter, so i am still fond of it despite it shortcomings...and i really liked M14 EBR, LOL.

Regarding Battlefield, i played only the older ones (original and BF2), so cant really judge Bad Company, but i think i prefer CoD....its funny cause i snipe all the time, so BF should be more obvious choice for me, but i just do not like how people f*ck around with various vehicles, i prefer classic fighting with hand guns, therefore Blops for me.

Last thing, Starcraft... i was never a big fan of it, but i love RTSes indeed...now my buddy tries to convince me to buy it, so he can play it with me, but i just do not know... it costs 43 EUROs  over here and i am not sure, if it is worth the money. Not cause of the quality of the game, but as i know myself, i will end up playing CoD or PES 2011 95 percent of time anyway and in that case its money down the drain. I already made mistake, when i bought SupCom 2 and RUSE last year, played both combined maybe 30 hours or even less. And i prefer this new-gen grand scale strategies more than oldish SC, where you maneuver 10 units and call it an army.

Right now?  I am playing a ton of MP Dominions 3.  Some of these games might take all year to finish.

I am also playing Sims Medieval.  Yea, yea, it's Sims, but it's kind of fun.  Wish it had more options and was more open-ended.  More Sim3 options, like aging.

Baldur's Gate II, which will be followed with getting the next pyramid built in Pharoah.

Leave it to Treyarch to follow World At War with what could have been the best COD and yet again screw it up for some of us.

Well, I was somewhat able to play it but it would eventually become annoying. I like the many game styles in Black Ops although it did have a bit of World At War mixed in with Modern Warfare 2 in it which I found a bit appealing, none the less I tend to like MW2 more. Not really sure why.

My first FPS was COD 2 followed by COD4 and COD WAW so I have actually owned all of the COD games including COD and COD United Front (I think thats what it was called) and COD 3 for the Wii although we could not get rid of it fast enough.

I am a sniper 75% of the time but I like doing the running and gunning sometimes and using my heavy guns to defend in Domination. I drive people nuts when I do that, so much it takes the whole team to get rid of me from my spot.

I was gonna get RUSE but never got around to it. Now I see it was not that popular. Shame, looked good in the demo. Starcraft is not for everyone, not easy to play against people who got their strategies well ironed out but it can be fun sometimes.

Nothing wrong with the Sims. I have all of the Sims, Sims 2 and Sims 3 add-ons and still have back ups of my families plus plenty of added files I downloaded from the internet, furniture, vehicles, houses, etc. My wife likes the game as well. I have not installed them cause my 150 GB raptor drive is already full.

I have been playing several games, including StarCraft, Homeworld, CnC, the BfME series, Battlefront 2, Empire at War and Forces of Corruption, and of course Sins.

I finally figured out how to dominate the AI as Terran, which is my main faction, though I am decent as Zerg and not very good as Protoss. Sadly, I suck at multiplayer.

Then their is Homeworld, one of my most favorite games of all time, still haven't beat the campaign.

I have the First Decade, but can hardly get into playing anything besides Generals and Zero.

I have with shame the Battle for Middle-earth Anthology, where I play a little bit of all three, BfME, BfME2, and RotWK, and some mods and maps for all of them.

I have several mods and maps for Battlefront 2, and primarily play Battlefront Extreme, because it is simply superior to the base game and in my opinion the way Battlefront 2 should have been in the first place.

I also have several mods and maps for EaW and FoC, but mainly play mods based on FoC like Phoenix Rising and my personal mod Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Last but certainly not least I play Sins, mainly Entrenchment and primarily as TEC, but Diplomacy is warming up on me and I will be updating to 1.2 later today.

I plan on getting StarCraft II among other things when I get a computer of my own that can handle it, though I am still irritated with the changes to the Zerg tech tree, the removal of the Medic from multiplayer, and the complete removal of the Lurker and Dark Archon.

Sins

Xia, is it worth the $50?  I'm a long time fan of the series and that looked interesting.

These have been picked up from GamersGate or Impulse in the last 2-3 weeks.

Hearts of Iron 2, DoomsDay,Armageddon

Peter Jacksons King Kong, great fun.

Star Ruler

Sword of the Stars Complete

Shells of Fury

Total War: Shogun 2.  It's an amazing game.  The multiplayer shell is still quite buggy, but my tolerance for bugs is quite high after putting up with Elemental. :D

Sims Medieval?  I got it at Target for $40, I think it's just worth that for me.  Honestly, I would look into forums and websites and get a lot of opinions before getting it.  I like doing Quest, and I like building little towns.  But, you have very few of the options of the Sims games.  You can't design your own castle or town or anything.  You can buy a building, and decorate the inside, but cant change how it looks on the outside or any even where its placed in the town.  But, the quest are fun, many can be approached with different heroes and have options in them.  I like it, but I could see where others could be very disappointed.

Company of Heroes, I've been told its a good game. My son liked the demo. Maybe I should consider it.

What's GFFA like?  Is it at all similar to PR?  I'm always curious when people mention mods they're working on for games I enjoy.

Total War: Shogun 2 with all the time I can muster  :)

I've played the series since the first Shogun and I think I'm having more of a blast than ever before.

I can also recommend Sword of the Stars. Perhaps my all-time favorite game. It took a long time for a game to surpass Master of Orion 1 in my book.

Some of you may have noticed I've not been so active on the forums. Some of you may even be glad for it. Here's my explanation:

I bought Shogun 2 the day it came out and couldn't get enough of it.

Then I made the mistake of trying out Minecraft. Paid the $20ish, and now I can't stop.

Seriously. I need help. I'm halfway done building a wall around a medium sized island that will eventually be one giant castle. And I see blocks when I close my eyes. I get frustrated and go to punch trees, and then get more frustrated when it hurts and the trees don't disappear.

Haha, I've been playing minecraft on and off for the last six months now. Its nicknamed minecrack for a reason. Eventually though you'll just wake up one day and not have any desire to play it for about a week, then you'll try it again and be as hooked as before.

Also, don't try multiplayer until you have a lot of time to kill, that's when it will really consume your life.

In addition to Minecraft, I've mainly been playing Sins and the XGM mod for Rome: Total War.

Is it really that good? To be honest all the videos I've seen don't really say much about how it's played or whats the point. To look at a game that looks like it came out of a Nintendo 64 crossed with an Atari is wierd to me. But that's just my opinion of course.

The point is there is no point. I mean there is a survival aspect, a bunch of enemies spawn at night and you obviously don't want to die. Otherwise its just the exploration and building whatever the heck you want. Its the ultimate non-linear game because there isn't even a plot.

Me? Mostly some Battlefield 2142, Portal, SoaSE:Entrenchment, and a little Battlefield Play4Free thrown in.

Lately not the latter so much due to horrendous lag.
