Multiplayer

TLDR: Are there any posts talking about planned changes to multiplay? + Please give options to play Multiplayer the same way you would play single player.

 

I may have missed it or it may not be here but is there any official word on whether multiplayer is going to be given the same gameplay as single player?

Creating your own Sov, Tactical combat, Map size, saved games. Lan play, general bugs. I know I am more of a minority but I don't care if it takes me 30 hours to play through a game with 4 friends and 12 AI's. It does not bother me that I will have to wait through their combat turns before I can take my next turn,

I see lots of good gameplay changes being talked about for 1.3(cannot find 1.2 changelog if it exists) but I am guessing none of it is going to make multiplay?

 

Possible middle ground for Tactical combat in multiplay - Turn timer limit, 1 Minute(player selectable value)  to complete all unit action before the turn switches, Max combat time (player changeable value) 10 minutes. After the max time is hit combat ends and the units are reverted back to their original positions. Sure it could be used to "escape" a losing battle but I don't see that being a large issue.

Custom Sov disabled to prevent OP Sov's? With friends thats not an issue, (Lan enabled) for Impulse games allow the game creator to force stock or allow custom.

Multiplayer in FE is supposed to get a lot of attention and be different and better than in WOM, but since they haven't started on it yet there are no concrete details released.

You are far from a minority when it comes to what you want in multiplayer, few people prioritize competitive elemental games over sandbox fun.

So as far as you have read there have not been any posted reports as to "fixing" Ewom's Multiplay?

 

Any chance a developer could drop a 1 liner(or more) just saying on the table or off? Please please?

There was a big thread about this not too long ago, but the only answer seems to be that nobody knows. If they have plans to improve MP, they aren't telling.

All that has been said is it will have MP.

The only word from Stardock that I have heard in regards to multiplayer is a comment from Frogboy from the Fallen Enchantress Poll thread:

 

Personal opinion on this: The MP is likely to increasingly go in a different direction to make it better for MP without gimping single player (quests in MP for instance not doable).

 

I am hoping this changes, as I've always found quests to be one of the more appealing aspects of the game.

It's just so sad to see it happen that way, Like Total War, I would have bought a half dozen copies if they just ported their single player into multi.

Us sandboxers are about open ended drawn out gameplay, not so much who can kick whos ass faster/better. WoM would be a perfect sit back back to play with a bunch of like minded friends and just relax game with a multi player equal to single play.

 

So Devs you have my voice and that of at least a few others so far. You will sell at least another 5 copies if you can clone the gameplay to multi ;)

Apparently in the live SI chat it was revealed that they will do another chat completely about FE multiplayer when they start working on it.
