Amabssador unit? What do they do?

Title kind of says it all, I have just been ignoring them, I assume they have some function, right?  Are they spies?  Spies would be cool.

I believe they are supposed to generate diplomatic capital.

Huh, no shit, I guess that makes sense.  What do you do with them, just make them and have them hangout in the city?

I have no idea, I've never used them :)

Well, good enough guess.  I'll have to play the game again and find out, so then I can bitch properly about it.

Yeah they seem to be a waste of space - unless the system required you to send a diplomat to another factions city in order to begin and conitnue communications I see them as a waste of space, that could have been taken up by a warrior

Wait, can you send them into foreign territory without a treaty and not provoke that faction?

If so, Xia's guess was right. They're spies. Spies and explorers.

Judging by what happened the one time I built them, they provide a one time boost of diplomatic capital upon creation.  As far as I can tell, they don't generate any beyond that initial amount.

I guess the best use for them is if you're feeling cheap, you can build one or two and use their diplomatic capital instead of gold for your next deal.  Then, once the deal goes through, disband them or use them as bandit fodder.  Although they cost gold and people to recruit in the first place, so whether the payoff is worth it is debatable... :|

No idea if they can be sent into another faction's territory.  I may try that next time.

According to WikiLeaks they complain about other countries leaders, but you are not supposed to know.
