Tactical Combat AI fixes in 1.1?

Hey, I was just wondering if there have been upgrades to the AI in tactical battles by any chance to make them more exciting? Any news on that front?

Well if you are wondering if you can still have...

...a fast guy with no armor and a pair of shoes run circles around the map while armies try to chase after him and you slaughter them without taking any damage.

or

...a single unit with some basic armor that can take on a million spearmen without breaking a sweat.

Then the answer is "yes". The AI has no clue how to fight in a tactical battle and there is little to no strategy outside of remembering to give your warriors some gear.

In that regard try playing on Ridiculous where spiders have 50ish starting health and still only do 3 damage :D

I also experience numerous calculation, graphic, and crashing bugs during tactical battles.

Though do not let the above deter you from trying out Elemental in 1.1 (assuming you haven't been playing latest BETA) its come a real long way!

I think AI levels should be a + (or - where low is applicable) to all the rolls the AI makes and all costs in mana, gold, ppl, materials, turns etc. This would scale as the game move though turns, AI balancing could be done via these defaults and not tweaking a new AI per difficulty (or lots of little bits in the file, not sure how the AI works) Part values would be rounded to favour the AI in harder, and work against it in lower settings.

Novice               Rolls twice, takes worst number/Costs at 160%

Beginner           Rolls at -20%/Costs at 140%

Easy                  Rolls at -10%/Costs at 120%

Normal              Rolls at normal/Costs normal

Challenging      Rolls at +10%/Costs at 90%

Hard                 rolls at + 20%/Costs at 80%

Extrema           Rolls twice, takes the best/Costs at 70%

Ridicules           Rolls twice, takes the best with +10%/Costs at 60%

Don't know when last you've played heyhello.  Alot has changed in a short time.  There have been some significant changes to tactical battles since v1.09e.  Dodge was introduced and refined.  Equipment values have been tweaked.  The infomration we get on hit/misses/blocks has been improved.   We get some pre-attack information as to max/average damage, and max/average counter attack.  Some performance issues have been addressed.  Some animation and archer issues have been dealt with.  Theres more, but my under spec'd machine wasn't able to run many tacbats in the older versions.  I've been able to play alot more during this v1.1 test cycle though.  Maybe someone can give you more info if you state which version you've last played (v1.08, v1.09?).

it does not matter which version the author played - i did not play yet 1.1 but 1.09v has the same mistakes

to be honest this poor AI in playing tactical battles forces me to wait for 1.2 - and i have been waaaiiiting for 1.1 such a long time ...

it simple is no fun if you can abuse stupid AI and win the battle against enemy double your power without loosing unit and sometime without loosing hp.

Particularly running after my single unit and ignoring totally what's going on on a battlefield is very annoying.

Happy someone else touched the topic and put some pressure :)

some afterthought:

at least the beast/monsters/animal armies should employ simple strategy (if you call it strategy ...), that is, they should attack whoever is closest, and there are few units around whoever hurts them most/last

it would be better then what it is now

then for soldiers/bandits some more advance algorithms should be placed
