Holy crap Elemental plays like a game

I've been keeping away from Elemental for the last several patches waiting for it to get closer to 1.1 to give it another go.

Wow, this game has come a long way! It actually works now, and is mildly fun to play, which is a big leap from the release. I really like the way the game is heading. Here are a few things I noticed:

Building a sovereign has changed a bit. Instead of choosing elements, you choose schools now. This doesn't make me happy or disappoint me, the change is just a change really.

I don't think I understand all the city changes, but overall building cities seems more fun, more user friendly and it seems to have direction. The level up bonuses are still kinda weird. When would a random sentinel unit ever be worth giving up a percentage bonus? (You have to be careful with % bonuses, they have the tendency to lead towards abusive strategies!)

The game didn't crash to desktop after 50 turns!

Combat is way more fun now. I still don't understand why my sovereign auto resolves combat and dies sometimes randomly, but overall combat is greatly improved.

The only bug I could find is the HP on the monsters cards being different than their actual HP sometimes.

Oh and what is this, my impulse pop up tells me a new version is available as of 2 seconds ago. A busy night for you guys :).

Gratz to the Stardock team for salvaging this amalgamate of parts and giving it synergy. It seems like you guys have taken a leap in the right direction instead of just a little step!

Now add some ability milestones for the various classes and some charisma based spells!

Thanks :)!

There is a random unit option?

It must be so far below the way better options that I'm always distracted before I move my eyes down that far :D

 Ha ahahaha

I'm so brain dead atm, just finished a 16 hour run with the latest version. Hardest part of playing lately is trying to squeeze long games in between each version that is ready for D/L. Phew... want to try the next one... but think I need sleep 1st.

I think there is a setting for auto-resolve in the options screen. You can set how many units need to be involved in order for player controlled tactical combat to initiate. At least I think so from memory. I'm at work and can't check. Confirmation anyone?

I think if you set the Tact-Battle Threshold to be 0 or 1, you'll always get the option to have a player controlled tactical battle (except when you attack a Caravan on its own, in that case you have to auto-resolve and the Caravan automatically loses).

Best regards,
Steven.

I had a pretty fun battle against Krax and Magnar tonight.  The game is getting more fun all the time.

I managed a 300 turn game at epic somehow. Only crashed once and was able to reload at autosave. Some fun fights though nothing challenging except one early game battle against Umber, who decided not to expand but had a lost library, 2 arcane temples, ventri ore mine, iron mine, and 2 shards next to his capital. He was set at Extreme difficulty but I think he just decided not to expand and a lot of those were adventure tech spawnings. He was also nice enough to spawn Umberdoth pit next to my capital ruining its square-ness potential. If only he decided to invest in some armor and he probably could have pwnt me as I practically ignored him for a while >_>

Yes I agree when I was playing I got into 3 wars at the same time. Then after I won those I built a mountain range around my opponents and let them fight each other then when they were weak I lowered a mountain and killed them. That's why I haven't done any crash reports, I had to finish it. Now I'm waiting for patch W.
