[1.09t] has anyone had any crashes at all?

[1.09t] has anyone had any crashes at all?

We're looking to button up for v1.1 over the next couple days.  We haven't had any crashes with 1.09t internally or in QA and we're not seeing any external reports.  Has anyone had any technical problems with 1.09t? Do you guys think it's ready to proceed to v1.1?

I can see what both sides are saying here.

What most people on these forums don't realize is that of the active people who play the game, over 97% of users who play Elemental (and are connected to the Internet) are running the last released version because they don't know there is a beta. Only people who have changed the Impulse mode to show betas will know there is a beta.

The purpose of this post (as the title implies) is to see how people are feeling about stability. We are not looking for feedback on whether individuals think the feature set or scope of v1.1 is sufficient. We are only looking to see if we have passed the stability threshold with them.

With today's build I do believe we have met that criteria. We'll see what others say. So then it's a matter of further refinement and polish as marketing decides the best date to release v1.1.

Its perfectly stable for my ol' comp. Actually I played a game of (non-glass cannon endgame mod) GC2 last night just for a comparison and this game is much more stable than ToA and the turns move much faster.

Say didn't you promise us a small update on that a year ago!?!?

  • Yarp; played for 12+ straight hours with a custum empire/Sov, on a Large/ max faction/ Rediculous map with only 2 random crashes for that entire time. Much better.
  • I'm still totally clueless as how to go about properly uploading the info for you guys to check... consider me "technically challenged" &/or blonde. Still can't find a thread in the EWoM forums on how do that. If someone knows, please give me the link so I can learn. Thanks.

Frogboy, do you guys include polish and cleanliness with "stability?" Because I think that's almost two separate conversations. Stability wise, it's almost there. Polish wise, it has a way to go IMO.

Each update will continue to polish the game and so on.  But that's not a go, no-go issue on releasing a particular update as long as it hasn't regressed.

I've played all the beta's & my vote is that it will be a great holiday gift for all the EWOM owners who never touch anything with the word "Beta" in it.

Each beta has gotten more enjoyable & more stable for me.

That said I didn't get very far (3 cities) in v1.09u[b].118 before it crashed.  Here are the debug and zip files:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16706254/Elemental1_09u-2010-12-12T19-13-01-676.zip

The only thing unusual was that I was using a Sov created in an earlier beta.  It's on the default large map.

I see "v" is now available.  I'll create a new Sov this time & try it out.

Here's the link to Kyro's post on reporting Beta issues.  I highly recommend using Dropbox (link in Post).  Took me less than 5 minutes to use it 1st time.

just ctd with 1.09u..

just timely though when i went to load up the game again it came up with a prompt to update to the latest major update 1.08.. so i quit, closed impulse and opened it again to find the 1.09v update available when it wasnt a couple of hours ago.. now i have to contend with the stupid 2g update..

Actually the point is becoming moot, we are now at 1.09v, that only leaves 4 more updates 'till you have to go 1.1. Due to the fact that you will be out of alphabet possibilities. (assuming standard English). So at the present rate of 1 update a day, you will have to go 1.1 on Friday.

I don't think Beta numbering follows standard English.  Think more like Excel.  After Z comes AA, AB....AZ, BB>>>ZZZZZ.

It ends when they say it ends.

Honestly, if I bought the game and played 1.09, I would be really turned off. 1.1 at least is playable as a game, 1.09e was just bad.

Yes...it's MUCH better!  I've played every revision so far.  NO crashes on my butt kickin' Asus G series laptop.  Occasional crashes still on my desktop (but I haven't test the v update there yet).  AMD dual core with 9800 GTX card (both machines are Windows 7 64 bit).

I say "yes" go for it.  This version is far better than the release version.  New buyers will be a heck of a lot happier with the latest revisions.

I still get CTD's on end turn or particular events very randomly. Is there a specific way to report these bugs because I cant find it on the forums. Where is the dump file etc. Plus with the frequency of releases in the past few weeks it seems almost pointless since the next release might fix an individuals' problem.

I hope very sincerly you plan on getting to a very stable beta build of 1.9 and leaving it in the communities hands for 2 weeks minimum without further patches and letting us test with a very clear way to submit bugs. Don't repeat your release mistake again.

Release the Kracken!

I can't remember the last time Elemental crashed for me. Like many have said, technically it has improved a lot :) Hopefully this means Stardock can start concentrating more on new content ( but not forgetting those who still have technical issues of course).

While I seem to be having more issues then most with the betas, it's not really the case, I'm just reporting most of my crashes.

I'd say this is releasable before Christmas now, though I still believe an extra week of crunch and daily patching is needed.  (but not weekend patching- that's ridiculous)

There's definitely enough bugs/glitches that you'll have to have a 1.11 and 1.12 most likely in January, but the improvements to gameplay and overall stability are good enough now by a reasonable standard.

Unfortunately Impulse or Elemental won't let me have it. I'm stuck at v1.09e  (and YES, I can see and technically update BETA versions.. Save it does the download, extract, copy, install... even tells me 'update complete'... and then it still shows v1.90e.. dammit)
