Impulse irritations

Yes, yes, I know. I shouldnt be in such a tearing hurry to play a "Beta"

from Stardock Forums

This rigmarole of going back to 1.09e and then going forward patch to 1.09beta etc.. unless you go back to 1.09e Impulse wants me to download 1.9 GB each time. I'm on a wireless connection in the middle of the desert and my GB limit is 10 and unless the patch size is small etc etc..

The reason for this rant is that somehow I managed to uninstall a perfectly good functioning 1.09p and now Impulse wont restore any one of the 9 (counting them one by one, 9 archives of elemental from 1.06 up to 1.09n).

So I am back to downloading 2 GB again. Sheesh.

You do know the easiest way to do this is:-

1/ Disable your 'show pre-release beta' option thingy

2/ Shift+right click on the game and select verify installation

3/ Impulse will tell you it isn't right and ask you to updat.

4/ update elemental (about 20 meg download)

5/ recheck 'show pre-release' thingy

6/ update elemental (about 30 megs)

Ruminations: So I managed to un-install Elemental. But there are still 9 archives (2 GB each) in the impulse backup directory, including one archive of the 1.09e. When I try to restore an archive, all I get are empty directories...
