[1.08] What is the primary melee weapon you kingdom players are teching up to?

I don't play empire but feel free to respond empire players as well, but please state what faction.

I'm trying to understand what tech level most folks spend the majority of their games at weapon-wise.  I tend to grab Maces+ Leather+ longbows by mid game and have been wanting to get better weapons.

So for 1.08, what is the primary melee weapon you kingdom players are teching up to for your nonhero troops?

At the end of my Empire game, I had all weapons techniques unlocked, and I will list the basic units I used.

Archer: Longbow and Leather cuirass.

Militia: Battle axe, Chain shirt, and padded helm.  Used for defending cities only

Infantry: Trog scimitar, Chain shirt, and Heavy steel helm.  Bulk of the military, cheap and effective.

Knights: Master heavy armor-full set, Great Scimitar, Worg, and medical pack.  Expensive, but pretty much unbeatable units.

So is it Roleplay/aethetics that you choose Battle Axe over Broadsword or Mace or Warhammer?  if not, can you describe your rationale?

The reason I made the Militia with battleaxe, chainshirt, and padded helm was a combination of aesthetics, with a chainshirt you can add some more clothing options, and the battleaxe was cost effective.  The Militia was an extremely cheap unit with 5 att and 5 def.

My infantry, actually named "Cabalist" due to them all wearing black was bult the same, for efect, aesthetic value, the chainmail cost less and provides more costume options.  The trog scimitar isn't much less effective than the great scimitar but take less gold and resources, so it was about cost and efficiency.

The Knights were just the best units I could make.  But very cost and resource prohibited, but had massive defense.

I didnt use a lot of maces and hammers, simply because I did not have a lot of metal or gold resource in that game.  So most of my military was made up of units that needed little of either, so the Cabalist, was more than half of my army and every city had a militia unit.  Archer being so expensive, were more rare, and there were only a handful of knights.
