Can i get a bit of advice?

Hi, i was hoping to get a bit of advice on a couple of things in the campaign?

I had one problem with terrain improvements in the game.... my second city expanded its boarder enough to encompass the terrain bonuses near the other city. That other city had no influence boarder? could be a bug? anyway, i improved those terrain bonuses and it said they are 'not connected'. I tried to build houses over to them to connect but it won't allow in that direction?

The game has a very irritating 'jump and build' trick. When i try to click in the spot i want it to build, it 'jumps' to a different spot and builds there instead. Even in the times it does not 'jump' i can see the screen flick the instant i click to build in an attempt to jump me somewhere else, why?

I got to the stage of tracking the refugees, but i encountered a problem in the next battle after that - Previously i did battle with a Dragon and my archers could only 'miss' Lucky Relican (whatever his name is) had enough fire balls or i would have been massacred. Now comes the big problem... next battle and there is a little dude who puts all my archers and swordsmen to the 'miss', he runs around and starts killing all my men, i can do nothing about it except hit 'auto calc'! So my question is this... if we are going to have dudes that cannot be hit in combat, then i as a player have no option but to use auto calc, and this should not be??

Thanks for any advice on above?

I think it has to be 5 squares (if not 5 then it is X squares) to be connected/linked to the town nearest it.  If you hover the mouse cursor over it then you can read a tooltip if you have them enabled that will tell you how many squares closer your city/town needs to be to get linked, and sometimes the conditions are right that you can "Grow" your town the Z squares required to get it linked.

I know what i did wrong then... the resources were inside my influence boarder but outside my view range, so i could not get the tool tip. Next time i will remember to run a unit out before constructing.

Any advice on the other issue's?

I get the jump build thing too, and yeah it's annoying as hell, but it doesn't happen all the time, though it is often.  Same thing happens once in a while when I move units, right before I click the screen will do a quick scroll or something and I end up clicking somewhere else, and then off the units go...

You do see the jump build thing in other games, but it is more to do with the action of pressing the mouse key - when you press the mouse key, the mouse moves and this is a well known irritation across the board in many games and across many different issues. But this is different in Elemental, the act of pressing the mouse key to build is generating a jump within the game, not the mouse moving. I have seen it with units as well - i think it could be some kind of ill conceived auto screen center thingy?

Anyway, i find if i build towards the right of the screen, i'm ok, but if i try to build on or near the left side of the screen, it will jump me for sure!

Now that's interesting...  For me, it's usually when I move the mouse from the bottom left (where it would be when I click the building I want to build) then move it somewhere a little above and a bit to the right of the center of the screen, then the screen will 'jump' to bring where I clicked to the center, then process the click which is now over something else further up than where I wanted.  Something like that.....

So yeah I agree and think it is some kind of auto center thingy.

I had this problem too, so I turned "Enable City Build Zoom" on the options, and it seems not to jump around when zoomed in.

I'll try that.  Thanks!

No wonder I never have that problem, that option has always been on for me...

Can anyone advise on the combat 'miss' issue i mentioned in my first post?

Resources dont have to be connected to a city to get the resource. Tho if connected you can use the bonus building for it, IE smelter, granary.

With regard to the combat 'miss' issue....  i had that one instance where the enemy dude went on a rampage and was untouchable. Now after doing many more battles with these kind of enemy i can say that original dude was just cheating fate by not getting hit to that extent. If ever i get a crazy lucky enemy like that again, i can simply reload and try again.

The Archers have been fixed, just get the latest patch. =p

No they ain't.  Now they either miss or do max damage, at least mine do.  Actually, mine started doing max damage after the first time my army panicked.  Before that they were working fine.  Coincidennce?

Armies can panic?

To be honest I think they need to address the fact that you can build on a resource anywhere in your influence, but if it's not near enough once of your outpost/town/cities you can't harvest the resources. It's not obvious and it's kind of pointless.

yes, i finally worked out a way to get the building built where I want - and nbot have the map 'jump' under my cursor.   Bring the zoom in so the city graphics are very large.  then take cursor and put on over the intended site- dead center.  have the site centered in your window/monitor.  click fast... almosty laways works.
