Requests for easy improvements to 1.08

1:  Show the benefits of tech treaties in the kingdom report, like it shows the gildar from economic treaties.  Next, maybe even show a breakdown of the benefits by country.

2:  Have "next city" & "previous city" buttons in the city build screens and city info screen.

3:  Maybe increase the minimum distance between cities by 1.  The map get awfully crowded, and some cities can't seem to build anything because they are too hemmed-in.

4:  Add a "buy & equip" button to the item shop.  Have it greyed-out if the character already has the item, or if they can't equip it at all.  There have been similar requests in the past, and it's always been a pain checking what someone has before buying something for him, but it seems even more important to me recently since I keep seeing characters who can't wear certain boots, armor, etc.

Now some possibly not-so-easy ones...

5:  Do something about the proliferation of unit types I will never build every time I research a new military tech.  That was one of my least favorite parts of GalCiv 2, I saw it coming from discussions in the forums many months ago, and it bugs me as much as I was afraid it would.

6:  Add a few more buildings that provide a fixed amount of gildar or research or whatever, so landing near the right resources isn't quite so critical.  Now we have level-1 buildings that give us 1 of something, and later buildings that benefit about 25%.  Sorry, but an extra 25% of 1 isn't very impressive. Or maybe even some higher-level spells to give more benefit than the early spells that give 1 food/material/research.  Maybe also a spell to give gildar.

The way it is designed, with the global pool on resources, the basic level 1 buildings all add together. So if you have 3 cities that all give you 1 gildar, you get 3. I believe that the 25% boost works the same way, it boosts the total pool. Thats the only way I can explain the way money pours in for me late in the game. My current game I am getting close to 100 gildar per turn. Makes outfitting all those troops much easier heh. I could be wrong, or there is some sort of glitch doing that. I only have 6 cities in this game since I am doing a scorched earth approach with the enemy empires and razing all their towns as I go.

My request for patch 1.08x:  Create a way for owners of the dvd version to download the patch to a shared (public) PC, so they can then transfer the patch to their thumb drive, and port it back to their non-web-accessing PC (where the CD version of elemental is installed) and patch their game.

(Still stuck with ver 1.0x)

(advertising said web access required for multi-human-player mode - never said web acces via impulse was required to patch dvd version of game)

Settlements:  1)  way to change name of settlement after creation (I like to note size of settlement in name "vliilage"  "city"  so i know how many squares i have to work with for buildings.  Also conquer settlement - change name.

Way too many settlements, suggest following: Increasing penality for each successive settllement created.

Permenently consume some 'essence' of channler for each settlement when 'built.'

and/or decreasing loyalty of each settlement based on distance from original settlement (or palace when built).

Perhaps allow embassy buildings to 'decrease penality when built in said settlement.

Or add ability to reduce penality when a member of player's dynasty, is tationed in settlement.  (Royal family looking out for concerns of kingdom / soverign.)

In dynasties, 'family' not always loyal.  Wars were often nonle families feuding (modern - feuds between corporations) Should a 'realtive' that was raised in someone else's court come to you - possibility (in event of war) they switch sides, sabatogue settlement or take some troops with them when they leave...

Pretty sure this is not the case. If you click on your city, then on the picture frame on the bottom center it brings up a summary screen for your city. Look at the gildar line and it indicates how much you bring in. Click on the gildar line and it tells you all the percentages that apply to your city.

Click the image of the settlement when it's selected (bottom center of screen) and click the "Rename City" button in the window that pops up.
