Dragons?

I've played through about 3 or 4 games now and have been thoroughly enjoying everything.

But

Where are the Dragons?

Can I fight one? where?

Can I recruit one? how?

Are there different types with different breath attacks?

Thx.

Spoiler

You will fight one in the campaign.  You will also get to fight a slag and a drake.  I will suggest a couple squads of archers if you do run into one.  Even the drake does quite a bit damage if he gets in and hits you.

Currently, when you get one of the very last Diplomacy techs when you are a Kingdom side, you get the ability to recruit Young Dragons (at 10 Gildar Upkeep per turn ;-)).  But you would probably only get up to that tech in the very late game.

Best regards,
Steven.

In sandbox for Kingdoms, if you research the diplomacy group and follow the 'Unexpected Friends' line for 4 levels (all orange/red techs), you'll get a tech that will spawn a dragon roost, allowing you to recruit dragons in the city whose influence it is in.  Empires have a similar line, iirc.  There's also a level 4 quest that will give you a dragon.

Awesome, thanks.

Will have to start researching more Diplomacy.

I bought the limited edition and got a lot of cool stuff in the box, including a minature tin dragon. So yeah, they are probably in the game somewhere. :)

There is also a dragon that you cna get by completing a quest called "erogg's egg???" or something like that. It is a lvl 4 or 5 quest but after completing it a dragon joins your army.

Yeah, that is my absolute favorite quest. You get a fully grown red dragon that does great damage and looks really cool.

Aye, you get Dragons from researching into Diplomacy Kingdom-side and building a Dragon's Roost once you can. They're expensive but they get a pretty awesomely powerful aoe ability that can decimate armies (2 or more dragons in one army should just roll through almost everything). Tragically, despite apparently-developed wings, they are unable to fly.

Empire-side. you get Demons instead. Their ability is more powerful than the Dragons' in most cases but that doesn't mean Dragons suck. They're both awesome. One is just slightly awesomerer. The main difference is that the Demons' ability does 10 damage to EVERY enemy on the tac battle, where-as Dragons' do more damage but to a large area instead of the entire map.

Is there any way besides that quest yall are talkin about to get Dragons Empire-side?

Yes, the quest dragon's 96 points of true damage as it is called is a bit too good. It one-shots every unit, the dragon can cast it twice per round and thus six times till anything can get close enough to hit her ... and I think it's female.

Thus, if you cannot take him out at a distance (which is also quite hard due to his also formidable defense), only four of your units survive. And if the dragon then also has some company ...?!

Well, you better bring your own dragon and fire first or be prepared to get fried alive. Or bring unit that can trap or confuse her and keep her from doing anything ... Going muzzle to muzzle with her is however suicide

The balance of creatures are hopefully under redesign for strategic gameplay... flying units should have some type of sky terrain barrier.  I recommended a "high winds" which would stop the traveling of flying creatures.
