I would think someone on the internet would be able to figure it out... there's plenty of sites dedicated to the subject.

In all seriousness though, there is nothing you can actively do.  I think there is an "ugly" trait that slows down how frequently you copulate, other than that, nature just takes it's course through the 'turn' button.

Keep in mind, just because you see a birth announcement, the kid won't be battle ready for a while.  When he/she is, they will appear in your capital.

Nope it just happens from time to time even if you aren't with your wife. It's just pure random.

The creation of new life: "It just happens".

:-P

Out of curiosity is their any reason not to pump out as many children as you can? Do you have to pay upkeep on your kids? Does having large dynasty cause diplomatic tension if you aren't marrying them off? Have contraceptives been invented yet?

When a man and woman love each other VERY much...

But no - you don't have to be in the same city (or even the same stack). It happens at random (there's a chance per turn after a minimum). Now how you...ahem...get it on over a long distance...I guess there's more than one use for magic in the world of Elemental :-"

Well, when a Sovereign and an NPC love each other very much...

Dang - was thinking the same thing.

I still haven't been able to get married...I don't know what's up. It happened in the beta a bit, but ever since retail, there's maybe 1 inn on the entire map, and none of them offer me any marriage worthy quests.

Didn't they teach you that in the 5th grade?

other ways I have used  to get a spouse..

1) hire wandering NPC  champion of opposite sex click on action tab click ring.

2) level up diplomacy until you get tech that allows you to trade heroes and get one this way (other wise known as mail order spouse).

Build a sperm bank in one of your town and station your spouse there. All that simple.

The pertinent values from the xml defining childbirth (ElementalDefs.xml):

<!--** Dynasty stuff **-->
  <Dynasty_MaxNumChildren>4</Dynasty_MaxNumChildren>
  <Dynasty_ChanceToGiveBirth>0.1</Dynasty_ChanceToGiveBirth>
  <Dynasty_TurnAgeGrown>100</Dynasty_TurnAgeGrown>
  <Dynasty_TurnAgeOld>600</Dynasty_TurnAgeOld>
  <Dynasty_MinTurnsBetweenChildren>20</Dynasty_MinTurnsBetweenChildren>
  <Dynasty_MinTurnsUntilMarriage>50</Dynasty_MinTurnsUntilMarriage>

Suddenly the Blunt trait (think that's the right one, one that increases the cost of hiring champions at any rate) and low charisma scores in character creation are looking a lot more appealing.

Research the "Civilization" tree until you get to "Pub" (which is after Town Hall IIRC).  Put a few pubs in your cities and you can count on someone getting pregnant.... ;P

My daughter (5 years old) keep asking me similar questions

come on people.  Won't you just answer his question?   Everybody has beaten around the bush.

You create children through a process called 'fornication'.  It is the process where you allow your genitals to connect with a member of the opposite sex through means of inserting the penis into the vagina.  Through arousal, ejaculation can occur where sperm from the male is released into the female's uterus through a liquid medium called semen.

Yep, it's called sending your wife out in the wilderness, unarmed against a powerful stack. Especially since we can't re-marry (sadly overlooked).

Errmm....bad strategy, sending the wife out against a powerful stack might get you more red headed kids 9mo later. <_<
