Archers

So, I'm trying to get my Sovereign and champions to be entirely archery based. I've equipped them all with the Cedar Longbow (which I believe is the highest level bow) but is that all I can do, bar raising their strength on levelling up, to increase their attack because, if so, archery seems a little underwhelming for signature characters in this game; whilst a normal soldier archer can be trained to Shock Troop level and made in a raid group to raise attack, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to raise my unique unit's attack with their bows past 10 without investing in strength (which only gives a measly 1.7 upgrade in attack with the Cedar Longbow per two points).

This means that, due to the way in which this game calculates hits, I find myself missing quite a lot. I generally win battles very quickly against high HP low defense mobs because I just pepper them with arrows before they can even get close, but if I come up against anything with defense I'm screwed. The only way I can think of raising their attack with bows any higher is to start buying +attack jewellery for them all, but is there no other option? Is there no bow which hits similarly to the Lord's Hammer or some such high level weapon?

At the moment there is only 2 bows, so there is not much you can do.  Hopefully, there will be some higher level bows in a patch.  I think a couple of mods have some more bows though.

Attack power items contribute to bow damage as well, I think. So, rings, necklaces, magic armor (which I haven't actually seen yet, so maybe it doesn't have attack stats).

I have raised bow damage quite a lot - Yithril sovereign with longbow is a fairly decent start, I think. As I use the warrior trait and start with a bit of strength, I have quite decent attack power even at low level, and an item or two that raise attack power (instead of strength) will give you more benefit from strength as well. The bow will never ever match a lord's hammer or anything like that, though, but considering that it's one of very few ways to attack wiithout retaliation, you can whittle down quite strong foes if you have a few summoned minions or something to run interference.

It would be nice if you could find exceptional bows as items - possibly you can - but I haven't found any yet.
