Slow tactical combat

Is it just me or is tactical combat very slow?  The animations occur at a reasonable speed, but there is a pause for several seconds after each action of a unit.  Attack, wait a while, attack, wait a while, attack wait a while, next unit.... I find myself going away from my computer to wait out the slow combats.  I have a decent machine 2.93 ghz i7, 12 gigs of ram, geforce 9800 graphics and do not understand why combat is so slow.  Is it some kind of hardware issue on my end? Is it a bug? Or is combat supposed to take so long?

late game defiantly I was hoping the 1.06 patch helped against that

Delmoroth, do you have a save game and/or debug.err of when this is occurring? Is this with versions 1.06?

It is not something that happens now and then, it is 100% of the time.  It just seems like there is a longer pause between all combat actions than one would expect. When i search for debug.err I get no results.

I have not yet tried 1.6, I will do so and respond to this thread.

I have 1.07 and it still hasn't corrected it, so I don't know what you're talking about.  Also has anyone noticed that when you save a game for fear of losing a combat with your sov when he has his full movement allotment still left (say it's 6 with all the perks)... you lose the combat and reload the game and now your movement is 2???  What gives with that?

Theres gotta be some penalty from saving/loading your way to victory   :thumbsup:

1.07 is better than 1.06 but the archers still suffer UI lag in my games beginning around mid-game, a reload might correct it but only for a turn or thrre then the lag returns... not my HW either...  SD keep up the fixins!

I have the same slowdown for mounted units, running on 1.07. Enemy attacks, mounted unit strikes back and then wait for 2-5 seconds before any input is allowed.
