Any area of effect spells?

I haven't gotten too far in some games, but I was just wondering are there any Area of Effect damage spells (i.e. ones that effect creatures on a number of tiles, opposed to just a single tile). I thought I saw fireball in beta, but I thought that only got one target tile.

Yes, there are some if you raise your spell level.

blizzard, chain lighning etc not too high lvl to get

Chain lightning is deliciously good! I don't think it was more than 2-3 levels off either.
