[bug] Game hanging at startup splash screen

When the game was first upgraded to Beta 4, there was a release that was missing maps.  This version and all previous versions ran on my machine fine.  Once the maps were updated, the game would hang on the startup splash screen.  I was unable to ever run .98.  I am still having the same issue.  Splash screen comes up and hard drive is loading normal for about 4 secs and then hangs.  I can bring up task manager but it is unable to shut the program down.  If I shut down windows, windows is unable to shut down the program.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

I had this problem last night. It turned out to be my firewall (Comodo) blocking Elemental, but the popup didn't show from behind the splash screen so it appeared to be locked up. Task manager reported it as not responding, but it was just waiting for a reply.

ml_reg, thx for the reply... I turned off my firewall completely, but unfortunately, that didn't fix my problem.
