Who will be modding?

The mod tools for this game look great. I made some tiles with beta 4 and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the tools.

Are you planning to create mods? What are you thinking you will make?

I have and will. I want to make mods based on Shakespeare plays, regardless of the disinterest. Although it will most likely be a quick stop after a passionate start.

But I will make random tiles I hope someone will find useful.

I've no experience in modding - but plenty in design / programming. When the python starts coming out I think I'll definitely work on some projects in my spare time.

I have not programmed anything in over 10 years, but if it's not too complicated to familiarize myself with XML I would like to make some small additions to the game eventually (New quests, monsters, spells, maybe factions, etc.).

I consider modding too - mainly to identify limits and other ways to do :-) This will end most probably in nothing, but for myself this is what I enjoy most :-)

Well I definitely would like to give it a go. I have not been involved with the betas so I don't really know what is involved yet. Modeling and doing textures is a hobby for me so I will definitely make some stuff in that regard, & I really would like to get some experience with animating also. Maybe to begin with I would like to make some things that other people can use for their mods, but first I want to spend some time playing the game. And I have a mod to finish for SoaSE, so it will be a while before I start this in earnest.

I have to play and "examine" the game first, but I plan on creating a campaign of my own if I can work with the modding tools ok, I am no pro. I already know the basic outline of the story though.

I would consider AI modding if they provided the tools, documentation and AI fight capability.

I'm here by Drafting you for work on the Dragonlance Mod. Report for duty soldier!!! ;)

The map editor is so horrible, that I think I won't be modding for this game. It's completely counter-intuitive and unresponsive. But I'll check out the release version, just in case.

I might pick it up for a few quick mods, and use it to tweak my own game a bit.

I hope to, but I know how my attention spa---ooooo butterfly...

i really want to, i don't know python, or much programming past HTML circa 2001, but i'v been meaning to learn. this seems like a golden opportunity. I even have some pretty exciting ideas (if i do say so myself!)

I plan on modding. I'll mostly do little tweaking mods, adding heroes (I want to do a community hero pack upon release), changing unit training (training packages), and add more/improved traits & professions (already started). Can't wait for release, been holding off more major modding so I don't have to change too much.

Hmm, Dragonlance you say? Perhaps..

I had plans to expand diplomacy, re-balance units, re-work the basic unit stats (str, int, con, etc), change how economies worked, add a paper-doll inventory / equipment system similar to Diablo 3 and (if possible) create a "treachery" mod allowing heroes, wives and dynasty children to betray their sovereigns if poorly treated.

that all sounds interesting.. heh heh especially the treachery part if done well it would add nicely to the game...

Hopefully - oh and I might also want to mod how spell books work (turning them in physical objects that can be stolen, etc). But again like I said, all of this would be done in my spare time.. of which there is little at the moment.

That does sound fascinating! Find some freetime, I can't wait to see what you do. :P

I will. And as Othello put it:

No No No, he's my slave, er..I mean Valued Employee. I need Python scripters for the mod worse than a Ethiopian kid needs a bowl of rice.

As a valued employee, what sort of benefits would I be likely to see?

If it makes you any happier, I don't actually know python at this time. Only C, C++, PHP, ActionScript 3.0 and bits of Java.

Did I mention the bowl of rice? :P The Ethiopian kid is weak from starvation so snatching it from him is pretty easy.

Seriously though I can't offer much...lol. I can tell you there are a TON of Dragonlance Fans that have been waiting YEARS for a good Dragonlance Computer game. If we do this Mod right it could get a Lot of attention and honestly I could see a lot of old school Dragonlance fans like me buying Elemental just to play the Mod. Some of those Dragonlance fans work for companies or own companies that hire creatively talented people like you and me ;)

I know some Basic, C# and C+ but not much. I'll be handling most of the XML based changes for the Mod as well but I know we'll need some Python scripting done for some of the changes I have in mind for the tactical battles.

I'll do a bit. I'm thinking some techs to improve cavalry are rather necessary, if they don't get implemented by Stardock right away, and I'd like to adapt some settings into this, though that might exceed my focus.

With such a heavy amount of DragonLance lovers I think I'll have to step up and represent Forgotten Realms in some way shape or form. Even if it's just a campaign.

Granted I did really enjoy the Fall of Heavens mod for Civ. So summoning a hell on earth may also be a worthy endeavour of mine to looking into.

Forgotten Realms would pretty much have to be just a campaign, it's too complicated for a full conversion to work. Unless you did the 4e version, but then there's really no point.

Fall From Heaven would definitely be worthwhile, most of the necessary framework is already present.
