Pre-order with credit card only?

I have a problem. I pre-ordered the  game over a week ago but had to block the card because of a letter of warning from the bank and some fishy withdrawals on the bank statements (I'm still waiting for a reply from Stardock). Now after everything will be cleared up, hopefully, I would love to pre-order the game via PayPal, but when I tried it before it said that I have to wait till release.

Is there no other way to pre-order the game, because I would like to get my hands on it before the 24th of August...? If not, will the PayPal option be activated as soon as the game is available on the 24th of August and I can start downloading immediately after buying the game?

You can buy it with paypal once it is released, yes. You can only pre-order with paypal when the beta is open, but since the beta is over, that won't be happening.

What is the reasoning behind that policy?

They way paypal works. When you buy something with paypal, it immediately subtracts the money from your account. Stardock only takes your money when they can give you a product. When the beta is open, you pre-order and immediately get access to the beta, so they charge you. When it's closed and you pre-order, you don't get anything, so they don't charge you.

Paypal doesn't allow making an order and being charged later.

As an alternative, you may be able to get a prepaid credit/debit card (which functions like a credit card for buying purposes) and use that to preorder.  Can you get a prepaid debit card where you live?

Best regards,
Steven.

This is reasonable, but rather counterproductive in my case, well... thanks anyway!

thanks for the idea but it's only a week before release, so I think it will take too long to request and receive a prepaid card. It seems I have to wait till release then.

I have PostePay (an Italian pre-paid card).

you just go there with an ID and some money to charge it immediately.

Took about 20 minutes, mostly spent in the waiting line...

Most banks debit cards can also be used as a credit card.  My bank "ATM/Debit" card works the same as a Mastercard.  If your bank offers that, you really don't need Pay Pal.

Thanks for your answers, I already borrowed my mother's credit card to pre-order it again.  ;)
