dragoaskani - They did take money if you received the beta.  However, you did not receive any goods so they wait to process your order.  They may place a small hold on your account though to verify the card number.  Not sure how Impulse works but I've seen this from other companies.

yes I know that, I just now preordered this very minute, I am just surprised they haven't actually started running them already like they did when I preordered the expansions for Sins before. *shrug* doesn't matter really was just surprised that it didn't charge immediately.

Wait, is that a town on a tactical battle map? (Which looks really good, btw, as does the UI on the main screen)

I can't claim to be a full expert on it but here's how it basically works:

All of the time consuming materials get sent out to manufacturing weeks, months in advance.

That's one reason why modern manuals suck so bad (and Elemental's manual is going to suck out of the box, sorry I wish it wasn't so but it's already outdated based on ideas from my friends online and such).  The manual was sent out back before Beta 3.

...

Speaking of installs...

I've timed it -- Elemental installs *faster* off a good cable modem connection than from a local DVD (mainly because of the idiotic way Windows handles transfering tiny files and Elemental is roughly 12,000 files).

Thanks for the detailed reply. All of the above is nice info Brad. Congrats on going gold!

You only get charged immediately if the beta is open, which it was with the Sins expansions IIRC. Beta's closed right now, so it's a normal preorder where they won't charge it until release.

Congratulations!  You guys have worked your tails off, and it shows in how awesome the game looks (and in how excited I am for the 24th)!

Woooo congratulations! :D This is not the beginning of the end this is the end of the beginning :D

Not to mention dealing with MSI - Microsoft's SH*TTY Interface during installation.

Congrats! I can't believe it's been a year since we were all waiting to get into the beta:P

Congratulations! This is probably the calm before the storm for you guys. Except you're still working on the day 0 version, so minus the calm.

Also, from the Worthplaying article; A persistent universe multiplayer mode?! Sounds awesome!

Well done. After the beta, and especially with the level of interaction that occurred, I know this game will do well!

Congratulations Stardock.

Hey Brad, where around Dallas did you grow up?  I live in McKinney.

Congrats to the Team. We Beta testers see clearly now. :)

P.S. Waypoints ftw!

Congratulations on going gold! This game looks amazing. I haven't anticipated a game release this much since Civilization 2.

Stardock has turned out some excellent games in the past (Sins & GalacticCiv) but this looks to be the best yet. I believe that Elemental will bring even more success and accolades to Stardock for all the dedication and hard work of the development team. Again Congrats!

Excellent!   Congratulations on going gold!   It looks great.   You guys have really out done yourselves.

Congrats! No product is ever perfect, and I'm sure we will all have little complaints and wishes. That said...thank you for making this game. Thank you for taking a chance and putting so much work into something that isn't Halo or Call of Duty.

Thanks!

Great news...awaiting anxiously just like everyone else ;D

I live in Australia and asked my local computer store what date they were getting Elemental and he said 9th September with that being the case and digital download been an option for buying the game I was wondering if you could give us some idea as to how big the game would be to Digitally Download

Nice UI improvements.  The Empire Tree looks like Sins... it's nice..

One thing though, is it supposed to say "Grassland land" up in the top corner... looks like a typo because that's kinda redundant...

Does this include the printed manual for the Limited Edition as well, or will that have a different manual?

OMG GRATS XD

Anyone else notice the guy running from the giant chicken in that screenshot? Love the attention to detail.

EDIT: Will we be able to recruit giant man eating chickens?

Sure, once they are modded in. ;)

On another note this game now looks like its going to be about 9000 gigajoys worth of fun. Unlike the betas, which were strictly nonfun, and measured in kilajoys :P
