Love this game but will it be ready for prime time

With the release looming fairly close will this fantastic game be ready for release? I would hate to see this game marred by random crashes and odd glitches that I still come across. Most notably is a memory leak that still seems to exist. I actually got an "out of memory" message. Now, before you ask:

4 Gig Ram

2 8700M GTs in SLI mode (1 gig vid ram)

a 10 gig swap file

running it on 2 machines the one above is an M1730 gaming lap top by Dell.

My desktop is a bit different with 4 gig of ram. A gforce 260 GT and 3ghz dual core.

I have seen effects of memory leaks on both that cause slow downs and crashes, even when my growing empire is not very big and playing on a small map.

At anyrate, I am really looking forward to the final version and love the game. I just hope that in the last few weeks of beta and lot of polish is done.

Frogboy has said that without the beta testing then the nasty memory leak would never have been found and fixed. So I wouldn't worry about it!

Even with the memory leaks, the massive change between betas over the last few weeks shows what can happen in a week, just imagine 3 weeks of nothing but polishing.. freakin amazing.

Prime time?  that is like about 6-8 o'clock in the evening right?

Yeah, I wouldn't be TOO worried about memory leaks.    That being said, there may even still be some after release that will be patch quickly.   I'm certain they will have enough leaks patched for release to let the game float.   And most stardock titles are sleepers anyway (at least historically)

Because you are totally playing the final version of the game...*eye roll*

I thought Gal Civ and Sins were success stories in a very short time after launch.

Duh- I get that. (rolls eyes too) Thus the statement "ready for prime time". The mem leak was there in beta 3 as well and with only two weeks to go I think it is still noticable enough to cause some grief on forums with fans if not at least mostly tackled before release.

Stardock is doing a great job and I am loving this game but I know how people react to things like crashes with a 'out of memory" message.

The version we have is most *SPECTACULARLY* not ready for prime time.  Crashes & odd behavior all over the place.  Usually runs pretty smooth in a new campaign until I get a few cities, then becomes pretty unplayable.  No out-of-memory errors for me, but just about everything else.  Posted a bunch last weekend and some more this weekend, so at least I'm trying.   (XP sp3 32 bit, 3gb ram; Intel Core-2-Duo; Amd 5670 512 mb)

Was very disappointed not to have a new build on Thursday.  They seem to have fixed a lot internally, but I think we need to get our hands on it to find the little bugs we couldn't find last week because they were hiding behind all the big bugs.  Then there are probably some new bugs.

The most favorable spin I can put on this is that maybe a few lucky beta-ers are secretly testing the fixed version.  IIRC, many months ago it was said that toward the end of the beta process there would be a an invite-only phase for really active testers to test the campaign.  PLEASE, PLEASE, tell me that is what is going on.  I don't think there is any chance at all that Stardock can find all the bugs they need to without outside help.

If you follow the Dev journels you can read about how the game is currently is beta 5 (private gamma as frogboy called it) which is a internal only build. Beta 4 still has the memory leak and many other things they have fixed over the a last few weeks.

The game on release will look almost nothing like beta 4 - The actual game UI will be in, all the final art work(almost everything is beta is placeholder) gameplay and balencing tweaks will be in as well as new AI(now that they are feature complete He can actually write AI code that uses it), hell even the font will be different.
