Other Games Stardock should re-make.

Games to be made.

I know there are lots of old school games out there, with more game-play than most of the new ones, they just need to be re-made right.

Here are some I can think of, off the top of my head:

WAR, INC.  (your a mercenary company.. includes stock investing, cloning troops, building an army that came with you from mission to mission, maybe the addition of a conquest map)

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/warinc/index.html

DOMINUS (just full of awesome features.. it is just a couple things short of being one of the most awesome strategy games ever)

http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/747/Dominus.html

CASTLES!  (an old castle building sim that took weeks of my life)

http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/402/Castles.html

BTW, I think most of these are abandonware.. soo you can download them free and play with dosbox.   just to get an idea of what they are. I still like them even with the dated graphics.

Anyone else have any great old games that need to be redone that I am missing?

Warcraft.

A Kohan-style game.

hmm, didn't really consider warcraft a dated game, but then again I didn't really like warcraft 3.  If they went off of warcraft 1 the original and re-made that I would be go for that!

Kohan, liked that game a lot. it was fast paced RTS with enough options to keep things interesting. I would like to see something of a cross between kohan, heroes of annihilated empires, and the total war series. For those who keep up with Total war, there are a lot of people who play it just for the mods.. My favorite mod happens to be the LOTR mod. But they tend to keep things more historically accurate, where I would prefer to see more of a fantasy based theme.

I just want someone else to make a direct sequel to Warcraft II that isn't a shameless set-up for World of Warcraft.

I remember the Castles Siege & Congest game, oh the memories! I remember when I was one of the prime candidates for the throne in terms of raw power, and saw that the Cardinal or whatever he was was going to vote the other way and pick someone else to become king. So, instead I started gobbling up all of the church's lands to force him to crown me instead. I was one land away, then game over. I remember the ending telling me that I was the most powerful person in the land, aside from the newly crowned king, and one wrong move of the king and I would go for it.

Building your castles in that game was a lot of fun, I remember building some huge fortresses. :D

Unfortunately the newer castle/fortress building sims are lacking. I would rather play the old school "Castles" than the new stronghold games.

Syndicate.

Those games are just *begging* for a modern remake.  [Without the persuadatron, though, which was just silly.]

And MoM, of course. Elemental is not a remake of MoM, but I guess something like it can be done as a mod.

Planescape: Torment

Seriously, I know it's a little off the beaten track but it's one of the most acclaimed yet undeplayed games ever made. Brad's a fan, and he's been talking about doing an RPG for years - even elemental is a move in this direction. It's a perfect fit.

The only worry would be the technical side. It would need to be graphically spectacular to justify a remake and that's not necessarrily stardock's forte. Also legal/licensing issues.

Would also need really top-notch writing staff.
The imagination and emotional involvement of Torment's plot and writing were what made it so superb.

I can see a similar plot-driven RPG in the Planescape setting, but it certainly would need to be something very different from the main story of Torment; its not like the story lends itself well to sequelization.

X-Com, obviously.

Frankly, I'd also love Stardock to create a turn based, squad-focused tactical combat game in the vein of Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm... revolving around covert operations behind enemy lines during WWII... gosh, one can dream, right?

A X Com like game seems a natural especially if combined with Galciv ...

Stardock make it so....

M.U.L.E.

hmm going real old school with MULE,   Elemental was called a remake of MoM several times, and has a lot of the good features from that game, from what I see in the beta, but no.. it's not exactly like it. (But who knows, they have hinted at massive changes from Beta to the release version) I am not counting the STARDOCK eggs until they hatch in glorious limited edition that should be delivered to my front door.

I can't see many similarities between MoM and Elemental, other than both are fantasy TBS games.

I know it, but I heard that it's not much of an improvement over the original. I mean a version that adds new features, not only better graphics.

They should pick up  the development of Talisman (based on the board game). There was one that looked pretty sweet in a state where they were showing gameplay vids for XBOX and PC and it got nixed by the publisher. Don't know why but it looked great.
