Am I Crazy or did "Large" Maps Shrink in the 3C ?

Maybe I'm just crazy...

I don't know if I'm crazy or what but it kinda feels like the "Large" map setting has shrunk a little. I could have sworn in Beta 3B when I would auto-generate a multi-continent large map that it was slightly larger then a large map is now. Looking at the size of the large maps now I'm starting to think I'm going to have a problem making the world of Krynn with any kind of accuracy because of size limitations.

What are the chances of us getting access to 64Bit functionality within the first 2 months after launch? Slight, Slim, None? Just curious. I'm already convinced that for much of the more detailed work on the Mod I'll probably have to wait until at least a month or two after launch. Mostly because I don't want to risk doing a Lot of work and then have it not be compatible because of an update. Or will that not be a problem? Version miss-match used to be a big problem in some games when it came to modding but I'm not sure if that will apply in Elemental's case or not.

I think you may be correct on map size at least it feels that way..

My guess is if your doing a mod, you'll be able to still choose a gigantic map size. And build it all by hand.

But otherwise, I'm guessing they just gave us a hand built map for a general size large, but it's not the full parameters. Just a general size for the testing due to it being easier to just go with a generic side.

As far as you getting that 64 bit support that you've been asking for, these last few months.. my guess.. not in the first 60 days. As there will be a lot more coming out on their end. (Now that's just a guesstimate. And I accept that, it may be wrong. But there was a general reluctance for rushing that 64 bit version out so quickly, as alluded in past conversations, and comments by Brad.)

its not a random map for 3c just one for each size but the resources are random so we should see a true large map later...

I've not played with cheat codes nor managed to fully explore a map, but in .92 I can't seem to get a large map without a very close neighbor, which definitely makes it feel cramped for a snapping turtle player like me. That plus the wildly reduced chances of dynasty offspring have me wishing that there was a new build already...

Yeah I love playing on large maps in TBS games because I'm a turtle who saves world domination for the end, and I generally only use military offensively when I need resources, or I just like having control of a continent. However, with this build I always have at least one AI starting pretty much as close as possible to my city, and usually they get ridiculous amounts of resources right next to them. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I'd definitely like there to be at least a chance of spawning on a continent by myself, or at least not right next to an AI.

Yeah the whole "familial politics" thing has not been developed much at all. I'm really hoping they flesh out the Diplomacy tree a whole lot.
