Is it too late to change the name for Master Verga?

Just started the BETA a few days ago, super psyched. Here is my "question" or suggestion:

I mean in terms of the development cycle and external stuff (i.e. does he show up in the book). In pretty much every spanish speaking country it is one of the most popular slang words for penis. Even the diccionary from the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language (the most respected in the world) puts that definition as #1

In all honesty if you guys end up leaving it in I'm not going to be offended nor will anyone I know. We are going to get a huge kick out of it though, and in that case it would be best that you are aware of the joke ahead of time.

it would be best that you are aware of the joke ahead of time.
At least one dev already knew about it some weeks ago. Name still the same. It'll help the word of mouth in spanish speaking countries? XD

Would probably get past a few people.

It reminds me if Sergio Aragones and his series Groo. It was like Conan The Barbarian but silly, for those who never read it. The writer would use words in spanish like "smelly" or "hairy" as names for tribes and characters.

Maybe i's a typo and it's really Master Verja. Not quite the same but safer.

Google translator offers "rooster" as meaning for Verga in italian (well, "rod" too).

And? Its funny and if spanish speaks want to play a game made in english and with fictional character names and are somehow upset then thats ridiculous.

 

If its just a joke *and i know it is* then thats fine people will likely mention the game more and best yet it gives everyone something to laugh at and as far as i know stardock is a cool enough company to not mind that infact i bet they enjoy providing abit of extra entertainment lol.

We have no plans for any official European language translations.

They can't change the names of any characters that are featured or mentioned in the books. The books have already went to press.

Now seriously, just because a word means something "funny/bad/strange/odd" in another language, is not really reason to change it. Unless you face a possible massive backlash or influent group (if I just could talk about religion here...), it simply makes no much sense. Thinking about it, it's not like Theatre Verga is going to change it's name because in one language (popular or not) it means something "not polite". Especially when people can create new slang faster than light can move. :P

Granted I haven't read anything from the books aside from what's been posted on the Elemental site, but, I'd think it's a safe bet that most if not All the Sovereigns in the vanilla game will at least be "mentioned" in the book. That's just an educated guess though.
