Elemental Beta 3C Videos.. YES.. Through the Arcane Crucible

And I said to him... more videos, and he smiled.

Fires of PURE Arcane Energy

Alright, with the new .92 version of 3C out, I've put up another 45 minutes of video footage.

I can say without a doubt, once you get past the bugs like the text font disappearing, and the Tactical Battles acting all anti-aliased from earlier versions of the beta.

This game is becoming fun. And to know that there is literally hand fulls of fun being scooped out with each new version. I can't speak highly enough about this game now.

With the fixes to Tactical Battles. And the rest of the game actually working. And starting to get that real feel, I'm just getting that old fashioned glow of damn... this game is fun!

And to know that I'll be able to mod in my own orks, and orcs, and dark elves, and more.. it'll be like opening a gift from Winter Solstice, every day!

(Thanks again to the Stardock folks who put in such hours to make these possible.)

Game on! And enjoy the videos!

For we who are about to test. Salute you!

(My voice is always available if you've got something you wanted said... which can include such commentary in the videos.)

just my 2 cents, i like your videos but 1 h to watch is really too much for me :P

maybe you could cut a bit to reduce them to a more likely size or some sort of index like "in this  section i fight  a huge dragon, in this i build my army, in this i summon a giant " so ppl can decide to watch something they find more interesting

good work anyway

Well in a lot of cases the videos are done without a particular goal or significant note for viewing.

Except when I do something specific, I try to make sure I note that in all the places that it can be seen, either via Youtube, or my website, and so on.

Like video 5 of this series is related to creating an Archer, and going through that part. So I'll make quick notes of it. But one of the other things is if you watch from the beginning, you get to see as I explore what new things we've encountered in the builds. Talking about various aspects as we encounter it.

Like the videos I'm working on now, are a bit later in the game, as I'm exploring the continent some and have set up some cities.

I do hear ya though ddd888 because I find it similar to that vein as well. So I'll keep it in mind and try to do so whenever I can! But glad to hear your enjoying them.

I try to get the videos to about 10 minutes per one. That way someone could come along, watch a bit of it and get engrossed while drinking a cup of coffee or literally eating some popcorn.

Here's an insider note.. what's interesting is when I'm watching them myself, I notice things that I didn't even see before, even as I discuss it. It's very much a real life view of how someone may see stuff. And then as your watching and getting more familiar with it, you find yourself going.. hey.. you it's right there!! hehe

It really bothers me how good it looks and how smooth it runs on your system...

What's your specs?

AMD 64 x2 Duo Core 5200+ (2.61ghz)

4 gigs of ram

Nvidia 8800GTS

I built it a few years ago, and it's lived up to my expectations since. Still using Windows XP at this time.

Gorstagg: Have you tried running the tactical battles with shadows completely turned off, that seems to help them work correctly.

I do not think I have had shadows turned off.

I'll try that next, to see if that helps! (Though I know I had one that worked recently but I didn't make any changes to the settings.)

Thanks for the idea to check TKPNZ!

Alright, have another 10 minute video up. It includes another Tactical Battle. I'll be terribly happy when Beta 4 hits. Then I'll be able to do even more videos! I've reached my saturation point with 3C, and am looking forward to moving onto the next one!

Great videos Gorstagg. You definitely have a good voice to listen to for these videos. Have you done any broadcasting or podcasts or anything?

Ok, I'm sorry, but I'm a big AMD nut. I don't like Intel (they make great chips, don't get me wrong, I just hate the company). So PLEASE don't say AMD Duo Core. It made me shiver. It's a stupid thing to gripe about, but I think (hope!) there are others out there that feel the same. Or maybe I'm just that OCD about this SPECIFIC thing. Heh.

On broadcasting or podcast's, not yet. Was tempted to DJ for w00t radio years ago, but didn't get a chance to fllow that up.

So I'm keeping an eye out for possibilities on these fronts now.
