Any kind of documentation?

I'm playing through a first game of elemental now and am having fun, but I gotta say I'm pretty clueless as what I should be doing.  A few questions:

1)  I successfully built a city next to a shard of ice, and then build some building on it to harvest it.  I really have no idea what that means though.  What benefit is there to taking over a shard?

2)  City building is fun, but again I'm not sure what I should be focusing on.  Should most of my money go to developing cities, or hiring a bunch of random heroes I find?

3)  Can random monsters wandering around kill my cities?  I've got some kind of super-golem with 60 or so attack rating wandering outside my capital.  If its not going to attack my city, I figure its probably a good defense for that side of the town.  :)

4)  There is a spell called something like "Revive Land".  I tried it on some grassland, but nothing seemed to happen(except me losing essence).  What exactly does this spell do?  Does it turn barren(or fallen?) land into grassland?

5)  When starting a game, should I focus on any particular technology?  My guess is the adventuring tree is a good bet, but I'm not really sure.

6)  Is there any downside to my sovereign getting killed?

7)  There is a civiopedia-esque button at the top, but it doesn't actually seem to give any information.  Is it broken/not ready yet, and is there any documentation in general elsewhere?

1) Certain spells require certain shards. I also believe they increase your essence or spell points, not sure on that one.

2) Glad you like city building, some think less highly of it. Balance is still being worked out, but the hope is that you could do either and have work reasonably well. The best strategy of course will eventually be nailed down, but things aren't to that point yet.

3) Frogboy(Stardock CEO) said he is implementing a system where monsters have different intelligence levels and some will actively attack cities/heroes while others will only attack if you get too close.

4) Revive land is what allows you to place cities in barren land. They should probably change that to being grayed out when you're already on revived land.

5) Same as 2, although I think getting some civics techs for your cities will probably be necessary early.

6) I think you lose essence for escaping from battle.

7) Not ready yet. And the only documentation besides an outdated(last I checked) wiki is in the version change logs, but I don't think that's the kind of documentation you're looking for.

1) when you build the require building for the shard you can cast spells that require ice shards ( you need to find it in the spell book)

2) the main problem is food try to place your citys where you can build farm etc or something like that

but there is no rules here how to build your citys , you can build 5 citys for only money making

3)not sure about that i dont think that now the red monster attack citys , later when the game goes gold npc that wander around can attack your city not sure about red monsters

4)hmm good question before beta 3 you needed to revive land to place citys i think now it gives you food resources

5)i focus on civ techs at the beginning  (food production housing more money)

6)dont think so just you have 1 hp left

7)not implement yet i think

There should be a manual option that comes up when you run the launcher.
