Is my soverign the onlyone that escapes?

I keep on reading in the forums that people are losing because their soverign dies.

However, my sovereign always escapes..... i get that 'dodge the killing blow' comment EACH time.  Is this a bug?

He dies if you have no city left, and I think he dies if your in a city thats attacked.

Also, there is a weakness you can give your Sovereign called 'Stubborn' that gives him a chance of not making it out of a losing battle alive.

Have you checked how many essence you have before the battle and after the 'dodging'? There is mention about using 'powers' to escape the killing blow.

There is also a bug (that i cant reproduce) which ends the game if you sovereign is killed near one of your cities. Not your last one, just anyone. I am still trying to reproduce it. Cant even do it with save games.

I think you lose some prestige if he makes that escape as well, but since prestige is relative to the city I don't know how it is managed. I haven't died that much since I mostly sit in my base teching up and spamming archers. A lot of features are missing so 'the escape' and its details could very well be one.

Escaping from a lost battle removes 1 essence.

Nah, they get moved out of the city. Ejected from it basically.

I lost a Sovereign when i attacked the enemy stack with several heroes in it. So maybe his death is just a random thing.

Did you have any essence left?
