Email alert submission rejected

The reason given was "Link goes to viewer's use". It took me some time to figure out on IGN's website how to even setup this email alert. How do I set it up so that it is for general use?

look for "view public page", "see what others see", etc.  Otherwise you're in your own settings page...to which others can't see.

Take a screenshot when you're at the web page that says you're signed up for the alerts, then host that screen shot on photobucket or something, and when you submit, link the picture instead. It works much better, because some websites take users to their own page on those links instead of your page.

The actual public page is much preferable over a screenshot.

I kept running into problems with what I thought was the public page, but then it turned out it wasn't and my submission get rejected, but yeah, I can understand why the actual page is always preferable.

Thanks for all the replies. According to my email alert at IGN, it is set to public list. How do I submit it as proof it has been made public. I originally submitted the link in the browser address field and that was rejected. Here is that link again.

Is this my personal view or public?

what ive been doing is since i normally use firefox, ill load up the link and fish around until i find the page using internet explorer. that way im sure my link is good because IE isn't signed in and is seeing exactly what someone who follows the link will see.

That's a good idea, I'm going to have to try that.
