Jongalt's Official DemiDementia List©

So a couple of friends of mine & I while at work play this narcissistic game where we surf for a condition/neurosis/defense mechanism/effect that can apply to other people in the office.  Each person finds and presents a condition, the other 2 guess who it applies to.  It's a good way to start a monday.  (I work for an architectural firm where most of the people are pretty wacked, with the principal owner being the most)

Anyways, I found this one and thought it applied to some random pugs that i've played with.

I almost thought that applied to me, but then I read "attribute their failures to situational factors beyond their control."  All the fail that occurs on the team is clearly caused by my teammates.

lol ;)

" This effect, also called "illusory superiority..."

LOL @ Zen in regards to PDT :)

I've played with rawr a lot over the last year and haven't really seen him rage that bad at all.

(other than the occasional rage that we all exhibit).  YMMV though

but for the ragers out there, heres one

Haha I love how psychology is being applied to Demigod.

Self-serving bias doesn't apply to Asians.

I think ninki's condition hasn't been invented yet ;)

^It's called realism - almost similar to depressive realism, but I'm not depressed, I'm Asian.

Speaking of RAWRRRR, he probably just has Type A personality.

I am going to kill you.

Although in Canada, 16 is legal.

Oh here's my citation by the way,

Here's another one for you Jon,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-handicapping

It's what a few people in Tier 1 often do, they choose weaker characters so that if they lose they can blame it on their character selection rather than admitting that they played poorly.

You would know this.

This thread should become Jongalt's Official DemiDementia List©

By popular vote, mental conditions should be associated with players, all in good fun of course :)

hrmm it seems since i changed the title of the thread it's not listed in the main thread list for demigod :( Is there a way to fix that?

Confirmation bias - people only remember their wins and forget about their losses.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

You can pair that with the availability heuristic, and it becomes a pretty powerful cognitive error - because your wins come up so easily in your mind, you mistakenly think that it's because it happens so often.

Nice one ninki!

here's one that a lot of politicians use:
