Understanding the nature of a game

Heya Stardock.  I'm someone who is enjoying the process you have created for making a game.  You have let us in and it is for the better.  When I was working for a software co., we would back up our various versions as development proceeded.  It seems you have embarked on a noble concept that people might be(not guaranteed) playing this game for years to come.  I hope you are keeping archived your various builds(I'm sure you are).  I think it would be fantastic for future potential game creators, modders and gamers in general if you considered putting out a textbook of how Elemental was conceived, designed and created.

Most texts take little snippets of various games to explain how to (roughly) "do it yourself" or towards a greater explanation for various coding.  Most are not worth getting(so I've been lead to believe).  It seems you could have Random House help you with this effort.  I am thinking relatively large text book for classes, history, developers and enthusiasts.

This text would be comprehensive and more than likely several hundreds of pages long.  A fairly large project in itself.  Just a thought for you, and a hope that you can.  Education and educating the public is something I think you are in favor of.  Please leave a lasting legacy for others besides your great games and other software products.
