Forum feature I recommend using

"Flattened forums" option now available.

The flattened forums option is simply another way of viewing the forums.  The layout and design won't change, but what posts you see will.  What it does is "flatten" all of the posts in a specific forum so that it includes the posts in all of its sub-forums.  For example, you can go to the Elemental forum and it will automatically show you the newest posts from any of its sub-forums. It makes it a lot quicker to view what’s going on.

This means that when you click on a forum now (with this option enabled), it will display many more posts than usual, and you can "dig deeper" into more specific topics by clicking on sub-forums.

You can turn this option on and try it for yourself by going to the My Account Options page.

Thnx, will give this a try. Will it work in Chrome? Quote buttons do not...

I tried it, but the beta bug report forum drowns out everything else because it's so high volume. Had to turn it off.

Also note that at least when I tried it that it may take up to a few hours to actually take effect. I did this soon after the function was announced and so perhaps it may be quicker now, however all I'm saying is that if you check the "flatten forum categories" button give it a few hours before you say it's not working.

Why would i want to see all the subforum threads too? I go to them if i'm interested in those. Going through forums normally is fast enough for me.

Well, I'm pretty much exclusively using the Recent Posts feature, which is equivalent to flattening the whole forum, including the Off-topic section. So maybe I should try that feature as a decent half-way point.

I always prefer to view forums in this way but I didn't know it was an option here. Thanks.

LoL I thought it was going to be the search button, or the pre-order button

Hmmm, I click on the checkbox, then I click on save changes and the option is unchecked again. Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3, WinXP SP3

I use IE8 and I when I click "save changes", the box remains unchecked. In any case, I cannot notice a difference in forum appearance.
