SP vs MP pacing

Quick question ...

I've mostly played SINS offline because I didn't understand the game well enough to go online, but now I think I'll make the leap to online play.

One thing I noticed was I did a LAN with a friend (on entrenchment at the time) and I noticed that the default speed was MUCH faster, and this threw me off a bit.

I wanted to know what SP settings most resemble MP pacing.  I don't care about AI or any of that, I just want to get comfortable at a comparable speed so that when I switch to MP I'm not as bad of a burden on people.

Put the game on fast everything in the setup tab where you choose whether pirates and all that are active, at the bottom of the screen where you choose your race.  Most all online games are on these fast settings, to quicken the game and keep it from dragging on for 10 hours.  *Dramatization*

Sometimes after lag things can speed up for a short duration.  This is common near the start of the game, but things will return back to normal after that.  As Exile already said, all speeds are set to "fast" in multiplayer, so that could be an issue as well.

For practice: Play SP with setting on all fast, then hit the + button next to the "name ship/planet" button, it will set the game speed to 2x. Its a little faster than most MP games run, so it will give you good practice at reacting and moving quickly. It may also be useful to increase the zoom speed of your mouse wheel, or get used to using the caps lock key to zoom in and out.
